Job description

About us

Harmonic is the startup discovery engine.

It pains us to see great startup opportunities consistently go unfunded not because of lack of talent, but lack of signal.

We're fixing that by mapping the entire startup landscape and building the tools that put the right companies in front of the right people at the right time. Investors, corporate development, and GTM teams use us to find breakout companies before they're obvious and turn that discovery into action. Whether that's a check, an acquisition, partnership or won business.

We’re growing revenue at a rate of 100%+ annually, backed by $30M from Craft, Floodgate, and Sozo Ventures. We're committed to ensuring hundreds of billions of dollars find the right founders, so the innovations that matters most flourish. If that resonates, let's talk.

About the Team

Our Infrastructure team powers Harmonic's ability to process millions of startup signals in real-time. While Flow builds workflows and Discovery surfaces insights, Infrastructure makes it all fast, reliable, and scalable.

We're at an inflection point. Our frontend serves hundreds of users who run complex queries across millions of companies, build sophisticated searches, and collaborate on deal flow. As we scale, we need to transform our frontend from "it works" to "it works flawlessly."

Our infrastructure priorities:

  • Reliability. Our users depend on us for critical investment decisions. When they're analyzing deals or presenting to partners, nothing can break. We need robust error handling, graceful degradation, and resilient core flows.

  • Performance. Large datasets currently strain our frontend. Views with thousands of rows need to render smoothly. Complex filters need to respond quickly. Data visualizations need to load without blocking the UI.

  • Enabling developers. Once we've nailed reliability and performance, the right infra multiplies our team's impact. Better abstractions and clearer patterns let engineers ship with confidence.

Who You Are

  • You have 7+ years building frontend applications at scale.

  • You have deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern build tooling.

  • You have a track record of fixing production performance issues at scale.

  • You have strong opinions on frontend architecture, backed by real experience shipping.

  • Bonus: you've worked on discovery systems, search, or recommendation systems (CRM, ATS, or similar), or anything that helps index, structure, and surface data for use.

  • Bonus: you have exposure to venture capital, private markets, or company intelligence data.

What You'll Do

  • Fix core reliability issues: error boundaries, state management, data consistency.

  • Optimize performance: virtualization for large datasets, bundle optimization, render performance.

  • Build monitoring and observability to catch issues before users do.

  • Establish testing strategies that prevent regressions.

  • Create abstractions and patterns that help engineers ship faster without breaking things.

  • Drive technical decisions and mentor the team through complex migrations.
