Sr. UX Designer

Job description
Your role in our missionThis position sits at the intersection of product design, technical platform work, and systems thinking. The Senior UX Designer on Foundations shapes the systems that ensure a consistent, secure, and accessible experience regardless of which product a customer is using. The work ranges from defining universal login patterns to designing unified payment flows, and it requires a designer who is as comfortable in an engineering conversation as in a design critique.

The engineering team works in React-based frameworks and uses Figma alongside AI-assisted tooling, including Cursor and Figma MCP (Model Context Protocol). This role is not a handoff-oriented role. The expectation is active collaboration with engineering through implementation, supporting engineers in translating design decisions into production-quality work and catching fidelity issues before they compound.
The team you’ll thrive with
The Foundations team owns the core services that much of Prosper's fintech portfolio depends on, including authentication and payments. Because this work sits at the platform level, design decisions here often have reach across multiple products and teams. This role also contributes to UX initiatives outside the Foundations team, including component infrastructure work that spans the broader product organization.
How you’ll make an impact
  • Lead end-to-end UX design for authentication, payments, and other core platform services, from initial discovery through delivery
  • Partner with researchers by providing prototypes, design thinking, and artifact support that enable effective research across the platform
  • Serve as a thought partner to product managers, engineers, and security stakeholders, shaping how problems are framed before solutions are proposed
  • Develop and maintain clear, thorough design documentation that supports async decision-making, legal review, and cross-team alignment
  • Navigate legal and compliance approval workflows for features that intersect with financial regulation, security requirements, or data handling
  • Define the design direction for Foundations features, including universal login and payment flows, and maintain the systems-level patterns that those features depend on
  • Collaborate with engineers through implementation, reviewing production output against design intent, and flagging fidelity issues early
  • Use AI-assisted tools, including Cursor and Figma MCP (Model Context Protocol), to reduce repetitive tasks and keep design-to-code workflows efficient
  • Contribute to cross-team UX initiatives, including component infrastructure work, that extend beyond Foundations
  • Mentor UX team members on AI-assisted workflows and research-to-design best practices
  • Skills that will help you thrive
  • 8-10+ years of product design experience focusing on design systems, platform UX, or component libraries (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Deep fluency with Figma, including prototyping, auto-layout, component architecture, and design token management
  • Hands-on experience in AI-assisted development environments such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools
  • Systems-oriented design approach: a track record of designing for scale, reuse, and consistency across multiple products or surfaces
  • Clear communication in cross-functional settings, with the ability to work effectively alongside engineering, product, and security stakeholders
  • Confidence operating in a fintech or similarly regulated product environment
  • Extra credit
  • Experience with Figma MCP or other design-to-code pipeline tooling
  • Front-end fluency sufficient to read and discuss React-based code alongside engineers
  • Background in accessibility standards applicable to financial products
  • Prior work on internal tooling or developer-facing design surfaces
  • Your roadmap to success
