Job title
Senior Workday Staff Engineer
Job location

Job description

We’ve signed up to an ambitious journey. Join us!

As Arrive, we guide customers and communities towards brighter futures and more livable cities, it isn’t a challenge just anyone could take on. Luckily, we have something to help us make it happen. Our people and our values. We Arrive Curious, Focused and Together. Just as our entire brand is inspired by the North Star, the shining light leading travelers to their destinations since time began, our values guide us. They help us be at our best. For our customers. For the cities and communities we serve. For ourselves. As a global team, we are transforming urban mobility. Let’s grow better, together.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Workday Staff Engineer to serve as Arrive's internal Workday authority. This is a hands-on technical configuration and solution architecture role — not product ownership or project management. The successful candidate will own best-practice standards across all Workday modules, drive cross-module impact analysis, and translate complex business outcomes into scalable, well-governed technical solutions. The role sits within IT & People Technology and works closely with People & Culture, Finance, and IT Security.

Key Responsibilities

● Configuration & Architecture: Own end-to-end technical configuration across HCM, Compensation, Advanced Compensation (Merit/ACR cycles), Benefits, Performance & Talent, Security, and Advanced Reporting.

● Integrations: Design, build, and maintain Workday integrations including EIBs, Workday Studio connectors, and middleware or API-based data flows. Monitor integration health across connected systems; triage errors, identify root causes, and engage the relevant business or technical owners for resolution.

● Solution Architecture: Act as internal Solution Architect — assessing downstream impact across all modules before any change is approved and deployed. Produce solution design documents, configuration rationale, and impact assessments for significant changes or new capability builds.

● Best Practice Ownership: Define and maintain Arrive's internal configuration guidelines for each Workday module, and apply Workday external best practices to resolve issues.

● Stakeholder Engagement & Business Translation: Translate business outcomes and people strategy goals into structured requirements, then into robust Workday configuration and solution designs. Partner closely with IT, People & Culture, Finance, and Security — operating as a trusted technical peer, not a vendor. Contribute to Arrive’s Workday product roadmap: surfacing relevant Workday enhancements, advising on what to prioritise and when, and ensuring new capability is shaped around people and business need rather than technical preference.

● Release & Change Management: Lead biannual release assessments, own change control processes, and ensure no configuration ships without appropriate impact analysis, testing, and sign-off.

Skills & Experience Required Experience

● Overall experience: 10+ years of hands-on Workday configuration, expertise in Advanced Compensation (Merit/ACR cycles), Complex Reporting, and Benefits. Strong working knowledge of Core HCM, Security, and integrations.

● Workday HCM Expert: Deep hands-on configuration across Core HCM, Compensation, Advanced Compensation (Merit/ACR cycles including eligibility rules, merit matrices, compensation statements), Benefits, and Performance & Talent.

● Security: Strong command of Workday Security — Domain/Business Process Security Policies, role-based access, constrained and unconstrained security groups.

● Advanced Reporting: Expert-level proficiency in Report Writer, Calculated Fields, Matrix/Composite Reports, dashboards, and BIRT. Ability to independently build and own a trusted reporting suite for People & Culture.

● Integrations: Proven experience designing and maintaining Workday integrations — EIBs, Workday Studio, REST/SOAP APIs. Ability to triage integration failures independently and own resolution end-to-end.

● Impact Analysis: Demonstrated ability to conduct cross-module impact assessment and own configuration governance end-to-end.

● Certification: Workday Pro Certification in one or more modules (HCM, Compensation, Benefits, or equivalent). Desirable Experience:

● Exposure to adjacent platforms: ServiceNow (onboarding/ticketing), Okta (IAM/SSO), or Asana (project/onboarding tracking).

● Background in global/multi-region Workday environments (EMEA, APAC) with GDPR and compliance awareness. Qualifications & Certifications While we value hands-on experience above all, the following are highly regarded:

● Primary: Workday Pro Certified in HCM, Compensation, or Benefits (or equivalent).

● Security/Compliance: Exposure to SOX-aligned change management or ISO 27001 processes within a Workday environment.

● Education: Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, HR Technology, or equivalent industry experience. Key Competencies

● Strategic Thinker: You don't just fix the configuration; you fix the process and the governance around it.

● Articulate Communicator: Ability to explain the "why" behind configuration decisions and technical constraints to non-technical People & Culture or business stakeholders.

● Ownership Mentality: You take pride in owning the Workday domain and proactively identify risks, technical debt, and improvement opportunities before they become incidents.
