Job description

Tigera—the pioneer behind Calico and Lynx—is defining the future of AI agent security, workload governance, and cloud-native networking. As autonomous AI agents, LLM frameworks, and microservices proliferate across enterprise infrastructure, Tigera delivers the deep visibility, runtime protection, and eBPF-driven enforcement control required to secure the next generation of computing.

From modern cloud-native architectures to cutting-edge AI agent ecosystems, our technology safeguards over 1 million Kubernetes clusters across multicloud and hybrid environments. Trusted by world-class innovation leaders—including NVIDIA, Royal Bank of Canada, Bloomberg, Chipotle, GoDaddy, and Upwork—we empower enterprises to build, scale, and innovate with AI safely and without compromise.

At Tigera, our customers are the heroes of our story. We aim high, move fast, foster continuous learning, and build a high-trust, highly collaborative environment where every voice shapes the future of AI security. If you are looking to help make a substantial impact, and our values and products align with your vision of your career growth, we want to hear from you!

About Your Role

Tigera is looking for passionate and skilled software engineers to join us in our mission to secure the next generation of agentic AI workloads running on Kubernetes and beyond. With Lynx by Tigera, we have a platform that discovers agentic AI on any host, secures it through the kernel and our gateway. You will get to work at the cutting edge of AI agent security and help define what makes an agent an agent. You will help build the tools to distinguish an AI agent from a standard workload and secure it  so it cannot go rogue! You will get to work with technologies such as eBPF, Go, Python, Cedar, agentgateway, OpenTelemetry, ClickHouse and more.

You will be joining a team that is highly engineering-focused with a culture that values diversity, collaboration, agility, and innovation, keeping us one step ahead in the exciting and fast moving cloud-native technology space. You’ll work on the hardest parts of the stack: traffic interception, policy enforcement, and observability for agentic workloads. You’ll take ideas from prototype to production quickly.

For this role, we are looking to hire in Vancouver (Hybrid).

Vancouver Salary Range: CAD $125,000 to CAD $150,000

You Have

  • 5+ years as a software engineer with a track record of shipping and supporting production code
  • Strong proficiency in one or more of Go, C/C++, Rust, or Python
  • Solid working knowledge of Kubernetes and containers, including how workloads are deployed, networked, and secured
  • Understanding of Linux systems and networking outside Kubernetes (hosts, VMs, cloud infrastructure)
  • Thrives on fast iteration and MVP work, and likes taking on hard, open-ended technical problems
  • Comfortable owning features end to end in a fast-moving, early-stage product environment
  • CS degree or equivalent practical experience

Nice-to-Haves

  • Expertise in proxy or service mesh technologies such as Envoy and/or Istio, including Kubernetes Gateway API or AI Gateway implementations
  • Experience building detection, discovery, or asset inventory systems, such as traffic analysis, workload fingerprinting, or runtime telemetry
  • Experience with eBPF or other kernel-level observability
  • Experience with AI/ML systems, data pipelines, analytics, or modeling
  • Familiarity with emerging agent protocols such as MCP (Model Context Protocol) and A2A (Agent-to-Agent)
  • Background in cloud-native security, zero-trust networking, or workload identity (e.g., SPIFFE/SPIRE)
  • Open source contributions in the cloud-native ecosystem

But more than any specific experience, the most important criteria for success will be your talent, energy, and passion to help build and shape the future within a collaborative, agile, community-based environment.

With offices in San Francisco, San Jose, Vancouver (Canada), Cork (Ireland), and London (England), we have a thriving team of diverse individuals from all over the world. We believe in a collaborative, flexible work environment based on respect for, and commitment from, every employee. We also offer a competitive compensation package along with full health, vision, and dental benefits. These benefits, coupled with an amazing team of individuals who believe in our mission and value openness, collaboration, and teamwork, make Tigera an awesome place to work.
