Two Six Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support multi-domain platforms serving critical national security missions. This role is part of the Data Team and will lead the development, maintenance, and production support of the team’s data-migration suite.
The Senior Software Engineer will report to the Data Team Lead and serve as a senior technical partner, supporting stakeholder meetings, technical estimates, and coordination with on-site Field Operations Engineers. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a demonstrated passion for learning, strong data migration experience, and proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues.
This is a full-time, on-site position that requires work at our TST Arlington office
Responsibilities
- Take technical ownership of data pipeline and migration service development, maintenance, and production support. This includes working with:
- Python and related packages (e.g., Pandas)
- Docker / Kubernetes
- Postgres (and SQL)
- Avro data models
- FastAPI
- Conduct thorough code reviews and provide actionable feedback to maintain code quality, data integrity, and operational reliability.
- Lead migration of data tooling from Docker to Kubernetes.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop requirements and solutions for complex data needs.
- Investigate and resolve production issues by analyzing code, logs, data, and system behavior; forming and testing hypotheses; and working directly with Field Operations Engineers to gather needed information.
- Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements for existing systems and platforms.
- Provide Program and Product Managers with reliable time and effort estimates for technical deliverables.
- Serve as backup technical representative for the Data Team Lead in stakeholder meetings, technical estimates, and Field Operations coordination.
- Provide scheduled, remote after-hours support for production deployments approximately one to two times per month.
- Provide technical and functional guidance to other team members as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of Python development experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with data in relational databases.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience designing, implementing, or supporting data migrations.
- Experience developing in a Unix or Linux environment.
- Experience building, running, and troubleshooting containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience using Git and Jira in a development workflow.
- Demonstrated passion for learning and ability to quickly understand unfamiliar systems and codebases.
- Strong analytical troubleshooting skills and the ability to ask effective technical questions of engineers, stakeholders, and Field Operations personnel.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain up to a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Helm or other Kubernetes deployment tooling.
- Experience with event-driven processing, message brokers, or real-time data architectures.
- Experience with DevOps processes.
- Experience creating data models in relational databases.
- DoD 8570 Level II or Level III certification, such as CompTIA Security+ or CISSP.
- Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
