As we establish our India Engineering Center of Excellence (COE), we are looking for an experienced Senior Product Owner to lead delivery of Passkeys, our passwordless authentication capabilities built on FIDO2/WebAuthn standards.

This role will own the product backlog and day-to-day execution across passkey creation and registration, sign-in (authentication) ceremonies, credential storage and syncing, cross-device and cross-platform sign-in flows, relying party (RP) integrations, account recovery, and the associated vault, browser extension, mobile app, and admin-console experiences. You will work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Design, Security, Customer Success, Sales, and selected enterprise customers to turn complex, standards-driven authentication requirements into intuitive, reliable product experiences for both individual and enterprise users.

The ideal candidate combines strong product-delivery discipline with a working understanding of authentication protocols, platform/browser authenticator behavior, and the UX tradeoffs involved in replacing passwords at scale.

What You Will Do

  • Own and manage the Passkeys backlog: write, refine, and prioritize user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical tasks in collaboration with engineering and product management.
  • Drive sprint planning and backlog grooming, ensuring stories capture WebAuthn ceremony behaviors (registration and authentication), attestation handling, and platform/browser-specific edge cases.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the engineering team during delivery, clarifying requirements for credential creation, cross-device sign-in (e.g., hybrid transport/QR flows), conditional UI/autofill, and sync behavior across platforms.
  • Partner with Product Management to translate Passkey's strategy into well-defined epics, milestones, and sprint-ready work, including passwordless onboarding, credential migration, and account recovery flows.
  • Manage work across multiple product surfaces and platforms, browser extension, desktop and mobile apps, admin console, and server/API tracking dependencies and maintaining alignment across teams.
  • Set and manage delivery timelines: maintain realistic sprint and milestone forecasts, surface risks early, and communicate timeline changes clearly to stakeholders before they become surprises.
  • Collaborate with Design, QA, Security, and Compliance to define acceptance criteria that support secure, reliable, and low-friction authentication experiences across a wide range of devices, browsers, and operating systems.
  • Ensure requirements account for platform authenticator behavior (Touch ID, Windows Hello, Android biometrics), roaming authenticators (security keys), relying party requirements, and account recovery/fallback paths.
  • Track and communicate sprint progress, delivery risks, decisions, and dependency status to Product and Engineering leadership.
  • Engage with customer feedback, support escalations, and relying-party/enterprise IT stakeholders to refine story prioritization and surface unmet workflow needs, including edge cases around device loss and credential recovery.
  • Identify, coordinate, and manage cross-functional dependencies throughout the product development lifecycle, including dependencies on browser vendors' and OS platforms' WebAuthn implementations and standards updates (FIDO Alliance, W3C).
  • Support release planning, readiness reviews, launch coordination, and post-release evaluation, with attention to cross-browser/cross-platform compatibility testing.
  • Use AI tools and automation to accelerate discovery, requirements writing, story creation, documentation, and delivery workflows.
  • Understand software fundamentals relevant to passkeys, including public-key cryptography basics, APIs, data models, authentication vs. authorization, and browser/OS credential APIs.
  • Understand core authentication and identity concepts such as FIDO2/WebAuthn ceremonies, attestation, discoverable credentials, credential syncing, and passwordless account recovery.
  • Understand cloud-based and self-hosted product considerations, including configuration, deployment, and version/platform compatibility across browsers, operating systems, and enterprise environments.

Successful candidates will be asked to authorize and complete a background check. We do not discriminate based on having a criminal record, and we encourage candidates to be open with us about anything that may come up on the report so we can discuss in advance and determine the impact on the role and company.
