Position Description:

Latigo is seeking an exceptionally talented and experienced Senior Medical Director, Medical Affairs to lead Medical Affairs strategy predominantly for our clinical-stage, non-opioid acute pain program. This individual will provide medical and scientific leadership as the program advances through late-stage clinical development and toward potential commercialization.

This role will drive development and execution of the acute pain Medical Affairs strategy, including scientific communications, external expert engagement, evidence generation, and launch readiness. A successful candidate will bring strong scientific and clinical acumen, strategic thinking, a collaborative nature, and the agility to work effectively across Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, Government Affairs and other functions. This is a high-profile leadership role that will report directly to the Vice President, Medical Affairs.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead development and execution of the Medical Affairs strategy, aligned with clinical development, regulatory, commercial, and corporate objectives
  • Serve as a medical and scientific expert on NaV1.8 and the evolving acute pain treatment landscape
  • Build and maintain relationships with HCPs, opinion leaders, professional societies, governing authorities and other key external stakeholders
  • Represent Latigo Medical Affairs at scientific congresses, investigator meetings, advisory boards, and other external scientific forums
  • Lead scientific exchange to identify unmet needs, treatment patterns, evidence gaps, and barriers to adoption
  • Partner across matrix teams to support clinical development, regulatory interactions and evidence-generation strategy
  • Lead Medical Affairs input into publication strategy, congress planning, scientific communications, and medical education
  • Drive pre-launch and launch readiness, including field medical strategy, scientific materials, medical information, and training
  • Provide medical and scientific leadership across cross-functional teams and help build Medical Affairs capabilities as Latigo grows

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • MD/DO preferred; PharmD or PhD with significant relevant experience may be considered.
  • 8+ years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience, preferably in Medical Affairs.
  • Pre-launch and/or launch experience strongly preferred.
  • Scientific expertise in pain or a related therapeutic area desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience with OL engagement, publications, congresses, evidence generation, and scientific communications.
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills with a strong focus on execution.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial biotech environment.


Location & Travel

Thousand Oaks, California preferred; remote candidates will also be considered. Candidates should be willing to travel approximately 30-40% for internal meetings, congresses and external scientific engagements.
