Job description

Imagine being part of a team that’s redefining the future of mobility—where your ideas don’t just sit in a lab but power next-generation technology. At indie, we are developing cutting-edge semiconductors, photonics, and radar sensors and systems for automotive, industrial, and adjacent markets. Our innovations are at the heart of advanced intelligent sensing and user experience applications, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

If you're passionate about groundbreaking technology and want to make a real impact alongside a fast-paced team that thrives on creativity and collaboration, we’d love to have you on board!

indie Semiconductor is seeking an experienced Regional Sales Director to drive sales and business development for our CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) portfolio across Japan, while also identifying opportunities to position and bundle complementary sensing technologies such as Vision ISPs, radar, LiDAR, and sensing software. This role focuses on growing business in the medical, industrial, robotics, and consumer markets while developing strong relationships with OEM customers and channel partners. The successful candidate will combine technical aptitude with strong commercial skills to support customer design wins, expand indie's sensing footprint, and help customers evaluate complete sensing architectures rather than standalone components.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales and business development for indie's CMOS Image Sensor portfolio across medical, industrial, robotics, and consumer markets, with a primary focus on CIS and a secondary focus on adjacent sensing solutions.
  • Develop, onboard, and manage relationships with OEM customers, manufacturers' representatives, VARs, distributors, and other channel partners.
  • Identify new business opportunities and promote application concepts that address customer needs across image sensing, Vision ISP, radar, LiDAR, and software-enabled sensing use cases.
  • Provide high-level technical support during customer evaluations, product integration, and system-level discussions involving CIS and complementary sensing modalities.
  • Partner with Product Management, Product Engineering, Quality, Marketing, and Supply Chain to support customer success.
  • Gather customer feedback, competitive intelligence, and market insights to support product strategy and marketing initiatives.
  • Engage customers at the application level to translate system requirements into CMOS image sensor solutions, while recognizing opportunities to pitch or bundle Vision ISPs, radar, LiDAR, and software where relevant.
  • Support the development of customer-facing materials, including evaluation kits, application notes, demonstrations, pitch materials, and technical documentation for CIS and related sensing solutions.
  • Maintain strong relationships and regular communication with OEM customers and channel partner contacts; existing relationships with industrial, robotics, medical, and consumer OEMs are a strong plus.
  • Travel both domestically and internationally as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Optics, or a related technical field preferred.
  • 10+ years of semiconductor sales experience, preferably supporting medical, industrial, robotics, or consumer markets.
  • Experience selling CMOS image sensors, image signal processors, or related sensing semiconductor components; familiarity with radar, LiDAR, or sensing software is a plus.
  • Strong experience managing channel partners, distributors, manufacturers' representatives, and VARs.
  • Strong customer relationship, communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to position sensing solutions at the application and system level.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and standard business productivity tools.
  • Existing relationships with industrial, robotics, medical, and consumer OEMs are a strong plus; Automotive Tier 1 and OEM experience is also a plus.
  • Fluent in Japanese.
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in Japan without current or future visa sponsorship.
