Role Overview:

Reporting to the Lead, Payment Ops, this role will play a critical operational part in Unit’s success story. We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Recon and Payments Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring smooth operations, accurate reconciliations, and timely exception resolution. You will work closely with the Dev and Operations teams, leveraging your technical skills and financial expertise to ensure Unit’s complex system is always reconciled to the penny.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed reconciliation of transactions, accounts, and payment systems.

• Analyze and resolve exceptions in records efficiently.

• Manage and streamline exceptions processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

• Utilize SQL for data analysis and troubleshooting exceptions.

• Develop and maintain advanced Excel models to support reporting and operational needs.

• Collaborate with cross-functional and bank partners teams to enhance operational workflows and address recon-related issues.

• Prepare periodic reconciliation reports for internal and external stakeholders.

• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements:

We are open to a variety of backgrounds, but we believe the best candidates will have some combination of the following:

• 4+ years of professional accounting and/bookkeeping and/or operational experience at a bank or a fintech company.

• High level of SQL proficiency, capable of writing complex queries and analyzing large datasets.

• Strong understanding of financial principles, reconciliations, and payment operations.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and macros.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

• Excellent organizational and time management abilities, independent worker mindset.

• Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams.

• Resilient, proactive, and collaborative with a desire to work in a fast-growing, unstructured environment where you have the ability to have a massive impact.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with reconciliation systems and software.

• Knowledge of payment rails or transaction platforms.

• Background in tech-enabled financial operations.
