As the Tech Lead Rackscale Product Quality Engineer, you will be Quality's single point of contact for rackscale, platform, and systems programs. You will give product and program teams one trusted voice on risk, requirements, and readiness.

In this individual contributor role, you will connect Supplier Quality, Customer Quality, validation, and partner teams. You will keep quality risks and launch criteria visible from NPI through field support. Your work will help hyperscale customers deploy Astera Labs solutions with confidence as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment

    • Serve as the single Quality point of contact for rackscale, platform, and systems programs, representing Quality in core product and program meetings

    • Coordinate quality activities across Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE), Customer Quality Engineering (CQE), validation, and partner teams

    • Own and track quality deliverables, requirements, risks, issues, corrective actions, and readiness milestones

    • Drive clear communication, alignment, and timely escalation of quality concerns

  • Reliability, Validation & Product Readiness

    • Define reliability testing expectations across PCBA, platform, and rack levels

    • Support validation, qualification, product readiness, and launch activities

    • Provide NPI EV support for engineering and partner on component engineering topics

    • Ensure product-level environmental compliance requirements are met

  • Field Quality, RMA & Customer Support

    • Devise and align RMA and failure-analysis flows across internal teams and partners

    • Develop the refurbishment process and provide input into reverse-logistics handling

    • Participate in warranty and advance replacement decisions

    • Assist with customer support and provide system-level debug assistance with ODMs and FAEs

  • Proof-of-Concept (POC) Pool Management

    • Participate in the management of the POC pool, helping track unit status, usage, and return flows

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field

  • 5+ years of experience in quality engineering for electronic hardware, such as server, networking, or data center platforms

  • Hands-on experience with PCBA, platform, or system-level quality, reliability, and failure analysis

  • Proven experience driving RMA, corrective action, and root-cause processes (e.g., 8D) with suppliers, ODMs, and customers

  • Ability to lead cross-functional programs and escalate issues effectively as an individual contributor

  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint, for tracking and reporting

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Engineering or a related field

  • Experience with rack-scale, AI, or hyperscale data center hardware programs

  • Experience in component engineering, NPI quality, or reverse logistics and refurbishment

  • Knowledge of environmental compliance standards (e.g., RoHS, REACH) and reliability test standards

  • Quality certifications such as ASQ CQE or Six Sigma, plus strong communication and influencing skills

Salary range is $139,500 to $155,000 depending on experience, level, and business need. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonus, incentives and benefits.
