AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Production Applications Engineer (TULIP) to support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) applications. This role will work closely with production teams to translate operational needs into effective digital solutions, ensuring seamless integration between manufacturing systems, databases, and related production platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

· Maintain and enhance existing MES applications supporting production, quality, maintenance, and manufacturing operations.
· Design, maintain, and optimize MES data tables, ensuring consistent naming conventions, data integrity, and avoidance of duplicate records.
· Develop and maintain integration functions connecting the MES with SQL databases, REST APIs, and other internal applications.
· Support, maintain, and integrate WATS with the MES and other production-related systems.
· Develop JavaScript and Python logic for triggers, widgets, and custom functionalities when visual configuration tools are not sufficient.
· Collaborate closely with production supervisors and shop floor operators to understand operational requirements and deliver user-friendly applications.
· Maintain application documentation, naming standards, and environment separation practices (development, testing, and production).
· Provide first-level support to manufacturing users, troubleshooting issues, answering questions, and implementing minor enhancements.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

Experience:

A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a technical role related to manufacturing systems, industrial environments, production support, or internal application development.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with Tulip, SAP ME, Siemens Opcenter, or other Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
· Experience with WATS or other test and repair data management systems.
· Interest in growing toward a systems integration and manufacturing digitalization role.
· Experience working in manufacturing or industrial production environments.

Soft Skills:

· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
· Ability to understand operational processes and translate business needs into technical solutions.
· Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data quality and documentation standards.
· Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and platforms.

Technology Stack:

· Tulip MES (training provided, prior experience not required).
· WATS.
· JavaScript.
· Python.
· SQL.
· REST APIs.
· JSON.
· Relational database modeling.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to work in a standard office and manufacturing environment.
· Ability to use a computer for extended periods.
