Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team at a dynamic, nurturing independent special school in Yateley, Hampshire. The school caters to pupils aged 2 to 19 with a wide range of needs, including speech, language, and communication difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will work closely with students to assess, diagnose, and deliver tailored interventions that support their communication development, enabling them to thrive in their learning environment.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions to support students' communication development.

  • Assess students' speech, language, and communication needs using standardised and informal tools.

  • Develop and implement personalised therapy plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

  • Provide training and support to school staff and parents to enhance students' communication skills.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional standards.

  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary team meetings and reviews.


Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).

  • HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).

  • Experience working with children with speech, language, and communication difficulties.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A proactive and reflective approach to professional development.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a special school setting.

  • Knowledge of autism spectrum conditions and social, emotional, and mental health needs.

  • Experience with dysphagia assessment and management.
