Banding: Band 6

Location: Chadwell Heath, Essex (The Grove, Grove Road, Chadwell Heath, RM6 4XH)

Start Date: ASAP

Pay Rate: £24.00–£27.50 per hour

Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time

Contract Duration: 3 Months

Job Overview

Pulse is currently seeking an experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join a dedicated service in Chadwell Heath on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with experience in Education, Health and Care (EHCP) needs assessments to support children and young people across a range of educational settings.

In this role, you will undertake EHCP needs assessments for children and young people aged 0–19 years, alongside mainstream school assessments for children aged 5–19 years. You will use your clinical expertise to complete comprehensive formal and informal assessments, produce high-quality reports, and contribute to achieving the best possible outcomes for children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Undertake Education, Health and Care (EHCP) needs assessments for children and young people aged 0–19 years.
  • Complete mainstream school assessments for children aged 5–19 years.
  • Carry out formal and informal Speech and Language Therapy assessments to evaluate communication needs.
  • Produce clear, comprehensive, and evidence-based assessment reports to support EHC plans.
  • Work collaboratively with education professionals, families, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality assessments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with HCPC and local service standards.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Previous experience working at Band 6 level or equivalent.
  • Experience administering both formal and informal Speech and Language Therapy assessments.
  • Essential: Experience undertaking EHCP needs assessments, report writing, and mainstream school assessments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality clinical reports.
