Job Description
About us:
Aeva’s mission is to bring the next wave of perception to a broad range of applications from automated driving to industrial robotics, consumer electronics, consumer health, security, and beyond. Aeva is transforming autonomy with its groundbreaking sensing and perception technology that integrates all key LiDAR components onto a silicon photonics chip in a compact module. Aeva 4D LiDAR sensors uniquely detect instant velocity in addition to 3D position, allowing autonomous devices like vehicles and robots to make more intelligent and safe decisions.

Role Overview:
As Manager, LiDAR Testing and Automotive Compliance, you will lead the development of the software infrastructure and test cases used to validate Aeva’s next generation 4D LiDAR sensors. You will also work with cross-functional teams to drive software and feature development and testing, ensuring complete test coverage and compliance with automotive software, quality, and safety standards throughout the product life cycle.
What you'll be doing:
  • Define and own the firmware test strategy for automotive LiDAR products across development and production phases
  • Establish test coverage, KPIs, quality gates, and release criteria
  • Collaborate with Functional Safety, Systems, and Quality teams to address compliance gaps
  • Promote best practices in documentation, reviews, and technical excellence
  • Develop, implement, and optimize test strategies and plans for automotive software, including functional, regression, performance, diagnostic, and security testing.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the automotive industry’s regulatory and safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, ASPICE) and ensure the team is compliant.
  • Act as the primary testing and compliance interface for customers, auditors, and suppliers
  • Collaborate with project managers to define project scopes, schedules, and resource allocations, ensuring timely and successful project deliveries.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
  • What you have:
  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and C++ programming and relevant libraries/frameworks for test automation.
  • Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) practices, unit and integration testing, and version control.
  • Previous experience in leading and managing teams, fostering collaboration, and driving results.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Nice to have:
  • Strong knowledge of automotive testing standards and frameworks, such as ISO 26262, ASPICE, AUTOSAR, etc.
  • Deep understanding of automotive software systems, including embedded systems, ADAS, infotainment, or electric vehicle control software.
  • Experience with Jama requirements management software (or equivalent)
  • Exposure to HIL/SIL/MIL test environments
  • Familiarity with CAN, LIN, Ethernet, UDS, and diagnostic protocols
