Job description

💙 Licensed Mental Health Therapist — Part-Time

📍 Remote · Virginia License Required

🎒 Meaningful Work. Flexible Schedule. Real Earning Potential.

We're growing our Virginia team—and we're looking for therapists who want meaningful part-time work without the full-time pressure.

Backpack Healthcare provides accessible mental health care to children, teens, and young adults, all through telehealth. We're clinician-led and minority-owned, and we believe great clinicians deserve flexibility, support, and opportunities to grow.

Maybe you're supplementing a private practice. Maybe you're balancing family life. Maybe you simply want consistent afternoon and evening hours doing work that matters.

Whatever brings you to part-time work, we've built this role with flexibility in mind.

🌟 What This Role Looks Like

You'll carry a caseload of approximately 15–22 sessions per week, providing individual and family therapy through telehealth.

Most clinicians work weekday afternoons and evenings (2:00–9:00 PM)—when children and teens are actually available after school. Weekend availability is a plus.

You build your schedule. We provide the referrals, administrative support, billing, and credentialing.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • 🩺 Conducting intakes and developing client-centered, trauma-informed treatment plans
  • 💻 Providing individual and family therapy through secure telehealth
  • 🤝 Collaborating with our interdisciplinary team of therapists, PMHNPs, and psychiatrists
  • 📋 Maintaining timely, accurate documentation in our EHR
  • 👨‍👩‍👧 Supporting families through education, care coordination, and collaborative treatment
  • 🌱 Participating in clinical consultation and contributing to a culture of high-quality care

💰 Competitive Pay + Monthly Bonus Potential

We want part-time clinicians to have the opportunity to earn competitive compensation while maintaining the flexibility they need.

Your Compensation:

💵 $65/billable hour — LCSW or LPC, fully licensed
💵 $45/billable hour — Supervisee in Social Work, Resident in Counseling, with supervision provided
💰 Monthly bonus potential — eligible clinicians can earn additional monthly incentive compensation based on applicable clinical and performance metrics

Plus:

  • 💼 401(k) with 3% company match
  • 📚 $150 annual CEU reimbursement
  • 🎓 Free clinical supervision for eligible licenses
  • 🧠 Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • 📈 Opportunities to grow into full-time, supervisory, or other leadership roles
  • 🏡 100% remote work

Part-time doesn't have to mean limited opportunity. Build your caseload, earn additional monthly incentives, and grow with us at a pace that works for you.

✅ What We're Looking For

We're seeking clinicians who have:

  • ✔️ An active Virginia license: LPC, LPC-R, LCSW, or LMSW
  • ✔️ Experience working with children, teens, and families
  • ✔️ Comfort working independently in a remote environment
  • ✔️ Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills
  • ✔️ A commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive care
  • Bilingual English/Spanish clinicians are strongly preferred

💙 Why Backpack Healthcare?

Since 2020, we've served 12,000+ kids and families, and 78% of families report that their child is doing better after three months.

We're building a different kind of behavioral healthcare organization—one where clinicians have the flexibility to do great work without sacrificing their lives outside of work.

We're not going to promise we're perfect. But we're serious about building a team where clinicians actually want to stay.

When clinicians thrive, kids thrive. That's not a tagline. It's how we build.

🎒 Ready to Join Us?

If you're looking for meaningful clinical work, flexible hours, competitive pay, and monthly bonus potential—without the pressure of a full-time schedule—this could be the right fit for you.

Bring your clinical expertise. We'll bring the referrals, support, and opportunity to grow. 💙

Backpack Healthcare is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity in backgrounds, identities, experiences, and perspectives—and we mean it.
