Job description

Build the payment infrastructure powering global commerce.

Boku connects billions of consumers to the payment methods they prefer, one market at a time. Our platform connects the world’s leading digital businesses to the local payment methods their customers already use. Spotify, Meta, Microsoft, Netflix and Tencent already run on Boku’s payment infrastructure. We operate across 60+ countries, support 200+ local payment methods and reach 7.5 billion consumer accounts.

With headquarters in London and San Francisco and colleagues working across markets around the world, Boku is global by default. From London to Mumbai, São Paulo to Singapore, our teams collaborate across time zones, markets and cultures to build products for customers around the world.

Join us to solve complex, real-time payment challenges at global scale. We share knowledge freely, take ownership of complexity and look for people who question how things are done and find better ways to build.

Role Purpose

As Key Account Director, you will drive the growth of Boku’s most strategic and complex merchant portfolios, achieving revenue targets through the design and execution of opportunity plans. This high-visibility role is pivotal in shaping and executing Boku’s regional payment strategy while influencing the direction of its global payments business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for premium merchant partners, ensuring timely resolution of issues and maintaining exceptional service standards across Boku’s suite of payment products and services.
  • Deliver on revenue targets and drive incremental growth from existing merchant partners through new product launches and expanded business opportunities.
  • Develop and execute growth strategies and account plans that align senior management and cross-functional teams to engage and influence key decision-makers within merchant organizations.
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with merchants, driving actionable insights and accountability for follow-through.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and current database of merchant information and project documentation to ensure business continuity and operational efficiency.
  • Shape product and supply roadmaps to expand and innovate Boku’s payment network, strengthening its position as the preferred local payments partner for enterprise merchants across digital wallets, account-to-account transfers, and direct carrier billing.

Key Skills, experience and Competencies

  • Excel in cross-functional collaboration, uniting diverse teams to deliver commercially successful products and services that delight customers.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, and a strong communicator with the ability to uncover and interpret customer needs, even when they are not yet fully defined.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, business acumen and analytical rigor, translating data into actionable insights and making effective decisions with speed and clarity.
  • Thrive in fast-paced and dynamic environments, navigating ambiguity with agility and adapting seamlessly as priorities evolve.
  • Lead with influence and integrity, inspiring trust, fostering alignment, and setting clear priorities without relying on authority.
  • Combine strategic vision with hands-on execution, empowering others while remaining fully accountable for outcomes and results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience demonstrating comparable expertise.
  • 7+ years of experience in digital payments or fintech within account management, business development, or sales, with proven success managing end-to-end delivery and achieving revenue targets.
  • A self-starter with strong attention to detail and a deep understanding of enterprise merchant dynamics.
  • Exceptional time management and prioritization skills, with a consistent record of delivering results under pressure in fast-moving environments.
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders across departments, regions, and time zones, fostering alignment and collaboration.
  • Experience in mobile payments, e-commerce, or digital technologies is a strong plus.
  • Preferably proficient in Mandarin ( Speaking & Written )
