Job description
We are looking for a Growth & Operations Intern to help Scout across customer operations, content, research, and marketing execution. This is a hands-on role for someone who is detail-oriented, fast, resourceful, and comfortable turning messy ideas into clear outputs. You will work closely with the founding team on two core areas: helping Scout run better internally and helping Scout become more visible externally. That includes supporting customer/data workflows, researching retailers and brands, drafting LinkedIn content, improving SEO/GEO, and helping turn repeated workflows into scalable systems. ## What You’ll Do ### Growth & Marketing * Draft and publish LinkedIn posts for Scout’s company page and founder profiles * Turn customer insights, industry observations, and internal research into clear content * Research retail, grocery, CPG, and AI trends to identify strong content angles * Help create thought leadership around retail operations, AI automation, back-office workflows, and margin improvement * Support SEO/GEO efforts, including keyword research, blog outlines, landing page updates, and content optimization * Track content performance and suggest what to double down on * Maintain a simple content calendar and ensure posts actually go live ### Operations & Research * Support customer onboarding by organizing files, data, portals, reports, and operational requirements * Help clean, review, and structure retail data for analysis and product workflows * Assist with recurring customer operations, including report generation, QA, and issue tracking * Research retailers, brands, distributors, and market segments to support sales and product strategy * Help document internal processes so repeated workflows can become more scalable * Identify operational bottlenecks and suggest ways to automate or simplify them * Support ad hoc founder-led projects across sales, customer success, product, marketing, and operations ## What We’re Looking For * Strong writer who can make complex ideas sound sharp and clear * High taste in content; you can tell the difference between a useful post and slop * Extremely detail-oriented * Fast learner who can operate with incomplete information * High agency: when something is unclear, you try to figure it out before escalating * Organized and reliable; you do what you say you will do * Curious about startups, AI, retail, operations, software, or B2B marketing * No ego about manual work; the best automation starts by deeply understanding the manual process ## Nice to Have * Experience posting on LinkedIn, writing blog posts, or creating content for a company or founder * Familiarity with SEO, GEO, keyword research, or tools like Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Semrush * Experience with Excel, Google Sheets, Airtable, SQL, or basic data analysis * Prior startup, retail, operations, consulting, or customer-facing experience * Interest in AI tools and workflow automation * Ability to work in person in San Francisco ## You’ll Learn * How an early-stage B2B startup operates * How customer workflows become software products * How AI is applied to real operational problems * How content and distribution drive startup growth * How SEO and AI search visibility work in practice * How to work directly with founders and customers ## To Apply Send your resume and a short note answering: 1. Why are you interested in Scout? 2. Share one example of something you wrote, posted, organized, researched, or improved. 3. Pick one retail, AI, or operations trend you think is underrated and explain why in 3–5 sentences.
