Job description

Transaction Advisory Services: Financial Due Diligence – Consultant

CFGI, founded in 2000, is a dynamic and fast-growing financial consulting firm, serving as the trusted partner to CFOs and their organizations. We help clients tackle complex challenges across accounting, financial reporting, transactions, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation. We blend deep technical expertise with a hands-on, entrepreneurial approach to help the world’s leading companies move forward with confidence. We are actively expanding our Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) practice and seeking motivated professionals to support financial due diligence engagements for private equity firms, strategic buyers, and corporate clients.

We are seeking a Consultant to support buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence engagements. Consultants work closely with Managers, Senior Managers, Directors, clients, and private equity investors to analyze target companies, identify key financial risks, and deliver actionable transaction insights throughout the deal lifecycle.

What you might expect:

  • Support buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence engagements for private equity firms, corporate acquirers, and strategic investors.
  • Analyze target company financial information to assess quality of earnings, quality of assets, working capital, indebtedness, cash flow, and other key transaction metrics.
  • Identify historical and projected operating trends, accounting issues, and financial risks that may impact valuation or transaction structure.
  • Prepare financial analyses, due diligence workpapers, client-ready reports, and presentation materials.
  • Collaborate with CFGI engagement teams, client management, and third-party advisors throughout the transaction process.
  • Support multiple concurrent engagements while managing deadlines in a fast-paced transaction environment.
  • Participate in internal practice development initiatives and continuously develop transaction advisory skills.

What you must have:

  • 3+ years of experience in transaction advisory, financial due diligence, audit, and/or assurance.
  • Experience supporting financial due diligence, audit engagements, or other transaction-related advisory services.

What sets you apart:

  • Experience performing buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence, including quality of earnings, working capital, debt and debt-like items, cash flow, and other transaction analyses.
  • Experience applying U.S. GAAP through audit engagements, financial reporting, or transaction advisory projects.
  • Experience preparing client-ready financial analyses, diligence reports, and executive presentations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, PivotTables, Power Query, Power Pivot, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and complex data analysis.
  • Experience with a Big 4, national accounting firm, or specialized transaction advisory practice serving private equity and strategic clients.
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams and collaborating with cross-functional engagement teams in a transaction environment.

Nice to have:

  • CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience serving private equity, strategic buyers, or middle-market companies.
  • Exposure to mergers and acquisitions, carve-outs, or transaction execution processes.

Who thrives here:

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across client and engagement teams.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight transaction deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, adaptable, ethical, and dependable.
  • High energy with a commitment to exceptional client service.
