Job description

About the role

AGent has an immediate opening for a world-class Senior Field Engineer who is passionate about hardware, energy markets, and what customers need to succeed. You are intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and solution-focused. You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-centric technical environment where no two projects look exactly alike.

The objective of this role is to ensure every generator we onboard is set up with the correct hardware and software to become a reliable, revenue-generating asset. You will serve as the project manager for all hardware onboarding and upgrade projects. You will work across AGent's internal teams, customers, third-party contractors, and utilities to ensure strong communication among all stakeholders and on-time project completion.

This is primarily a project management and technical oversight role, but you should be comfortable getting hands-on with installations when the situation calls for it. More importantly, this is a ground-floor opportunity: you will help build the protocols, systems and contractor network to help the team scale field operations faster every year.

Responsibilities

Project Management & Onboarding

  • Manage all project phases for every generator onboarded in your assigned region onto the AGent platform: from kickoff through validation and go-live
  • Lead kickoff activities with each customer and build a tailored project plan for every facility
  • Serve as the connective tissue across all stakeholders, customers, utilities, third-party contractors, and internal AGent teams, ensuring clear communication and timely delivery at every phase
  • Validate hardware connectivity and platform integration for each facility, ensuring every asset is healthy and market-ready
  • Build and continuously improve kickoff meeting and onboarding project protocols that allow the team to deploy projects faster year over year

Technical Leadership & Customer Success

  • Serve as the technical SME for customers throughout the onboarding process and beyond; defining and building project plans with confidence and clarity
  • Maintain a customer-centric approach across all project phases, ensuring customers feel supported and informed at every step
  • Act as a technical advisor to the GTM team: helping Sales understand hardware requirements, customer site considerations, and onboarding timelines
  • Own relationships with critical utility members and build the trusted contractor network AGent relies on in the field

Hardware Operations & Alerting

  • Ensure customer generators remain connected, maintained, and healthy after onboarding. Our objective is to have a portfolio of reliable assets that perform when markets call
  • Build an alert system with the engineering team to proactively surface hardware or connectivity issues before they affect performance
  • Support the hardware alerting protocol including repair cases, troubleshooting workflows, and resolution tracking

Cross-Functional Partnership & Scaling

  • Work closely with the field engineering team and engineering team to continuously improve AGent's hardware and software products and expand field hardware options
  • Help build the systems and protocols that allows field operations to scale

Qualifications

Required

  • Electrical engineering degree or equivalent hands-on field experience
  • 3+ years of project management experience managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Experience working with utilities: you understand how they operate and have built relationships within them
  • Deep experience with generator sets (gensets) and their automatic transfer switches (ATS)
  • Willingness to travel 25-40% of the month depending on the season
  • Demonstrated aptitude for troubleshooting and creative problem solving in the field
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong self-initiative: you don't wait to be told what needs to happen next
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment with a high degree of autonomy
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer sites as needed

Preferred

  • Experience in the virtual power plant, distributed power plant, or DER aggregation industry
  • Familiarity with wholesale energy market participation and the operational requirements it creates for field assets
  • Experience building contractor networks or vendor relationships in the field
  • Located in Texas, Louisiana, Mid West or the Mid Atlantic. Proximity to key customer sites is a meaningful advantage

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary, performance bonus, and early-stage equity
  • 100% employer-paid Health, Dental, and Vision premiums for full-time employees
  • Two health plan options: traditional plan with FSA, or HDHP with company-funded HSA
  • Basic Term Life Insurance + voluntary insurance options
  • Flexible PTO
  • Fully remote — work from anywhere in the U.S.
  • Direct access to the founding team and real ownership of your work from day one
  • A front-row seat to the energy transition
