About the Role
As an Exposure Coach, you will make a direct impact in the lives of children, teens, and young adults by serving as an essential member of the InStride care team. In this specialized, non-clinical coaching role, you will partner with patients and families while collaborating closely with therapists, psychiatrists, and other care team members to support meaningful progress in treatment.
We are looking for compassionate, growth-oriented candidates who are excited to learn a specialized coaching model, receive ongoing training and feedback, and contribute to a collaborative, innovative environment.
This is a fully remote position with a required schedule of Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM–7:00 PM CT, ensuring consistent support for families during after-school and evening hours.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Support & Engagement
- Provide high-quality, structured coaching through video sessions and secure messaging to help patients practice exposures, apply learned skills, and make meaningful progress toward their treatment goals.
- Use patient progress data and coaching tools to monitor engagement, tailor support, and inform coaching sessions.
- Manage an active caseload with professionalism, ensuring timely and reliable support for assigned patients and families.
- Maintain compassionate, strengths-based coaching while adhering to clear professional boundaries.
- Care Team Collaboration & Communication
- Partner closely with therapists, psychiatrists, and other members of the care team to reinforce treatment goals and share patient updates.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and teammates through video, secure messaging, and internal platforms to support coordinated care.
- Complete accurate, timely documentation to support quality care and effective team communication.
- Training, Development & Safety

- Participate in comprehensive onboarding and ongoing training in InStride's coaching model and evidence-based approaches.
- Apply feedback from supervision and coaching leadership to continue developing coaching skills and delivering a high-quality patient experience.
- Follow established safety protocols, recognize potential concerns, and promptly escalate issues to supervising clinicians to support patient well-being.
- Provide feedback to improve coaching curricula, resources, workflows, and technology tools that support patients and families.
What You Need to Succeed in the Role
- Experience supporting children, adolescents, and young adults in a behavioral health, healthcare, education, social services, or other structured support environment.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build trust and engage families through video and text-based interactions.
- Curiosity, coachability, and a genuine interest in learning evidence-based approaches and developing specialized coaching skills.
- Comfort using technology, digital tools, and data to support patient care.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a fast-paced, mission-driven team.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, with the cultural competence needed to support families from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience working with safety protocols within high-needs populations, combining procedural knowledge with the composed presence needed to navigate ambiguous or sensitive moments safely.
- Sound judgment and ability to recognize safety concerns, follow established protocols, and escalate appropriately.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and adherence to HIPAA requirements.
The starting annual salary for this role is $50,000. We maintain consistent starting salaries and salary bands to ensure our team members have a clear path for growth within their roles, allowing their compensation to increase as they gain experience at InStride.
