Role summary

Own finance, accounting, and statutory compliance for CommerceIQ's India entity, serving as the primary point of contact for banking relationships, tax authorities, and statutory auditors. Partner with the global controllership team in the US to keep India operations aligned with company-wide policy and reporting standards, manage and develop a small India finance team, and act as an authorized signatory across banking, tax, and regulatory portals.

Key responsibilities

1. Accounting, Reporting & Statutory Compliance

  • Own day-to-day accounting, reconciliations, and the monthly/quarterly/annual close in NetSuite; prepare financial dashboards for leadership.
  • Serve as the company's primary owner for Indian statutory compliance (GST, TDS/withholding tax, corporate income tax, PF/PT, STPI), including ownership of GST and TDS reporting and configuration within NetSuite (e-Way Bill, GSTIN localization).
  • Own EEFC/e-BRC regularization for inward remittances; track evolving labor law requirements and ensure payroll, F&F settlements, and reimbursements stay compliant.
  • Maintain Board, AGM, and Company Secretary records in support of annual statutory filings.

2. Banking, Treasury & Payroll

  • Act as an authorized initiator on corporate banking platforms (e.g., HSBC) for payments, payroll, fixed deposits, forex/travel advances, and intercompany funding; manage banking relationships directly.
  • Administer corporate card programs and coordinate cross-border wire transfers with the US finance team.
  • Own monthly payroll approval/processing and oversee F&F settlements for exiting employees.

3. Systems, Audit & Vendor Management

  • Maintain and improve processes across supporting finance systems (Tipalti, Navan, FloQast); review NetSuite platform releases with IT for compliance impact.
  • Support internal, external, statutory, and GST audits; serve as primary contact for auditors, tax consultants, and the company secretary.
  • Manage outsourced accounting, payroll, and tax consultant relationships, including fee negotiation, vendor contracts, and invoice/PO approvals.

4. Team & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Manage, mentor, and develop the India finance team (AP, AR, and payroll support); act as a trusted advisor to the CFO on India-specific finance and compliance matters.
  • Oversee the global AP/AR cycle — invoicing, credit memos, collections escalation — and employee T&E/expense reimbursements.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent strongly preferred given the scope of statutory and tax ownership
  • 10-12+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including prior experience managing a team
  • Strong knowledge of Indian GAAP, Ind AS, the Companies Act 2013, and GST/TDS/PF/PT/STPI requirements
  • Proven ownership of GST/TDS compliance reporting and configuration within an ERP system, including e-Way Bill and GSTIN localization
  • Experience as an authorized signatory/initiator for corporate banking relationships (payments, FDs, forex, EEFC/e-BRC)
  • Experience coordinating audits and annual filings with statutory auditors, tax consultants, and company secretaries
  • Experience in a global, multi-entity organization partnering with a US-based finance/controllership team across time zones
  • Strong vendor negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills; a hands-on "do whatever it takes" attitude
  • Good to have: working knowledge of NetSuite, Tipalti, Navan, FloQast, or GreytHR; prior finance experience in a SaaS or ecommerce company
