Developer Experience Engineer, DevRel Team
Job location
Los Altos, CA (HQ)
Job description

Descope is a developer-first identity provider for customers, partners, and AI agents. Our drag & drop approach to identity enables developers to easily deploy authentication, MFA, SSO, and MCP / AI agent auth without writing custom code.
Descope is trusted by over 1000 organizations in production including GoFundMe, Databricks, GoodRx, Linktree, and You.com. The company has $88M in seed funding led by Lightspeed and Notable Capital.
We're "descoping" authentication plumbing from developers' daily lives while helping organizations turn identity into a business enabler. Come join us!

The Role:

Our Developer Relations team sits at the center of how developers experience Descope. From first integration to production rollout, DevRel works closely with the community to ensure developers can successfully adopt, implement, and scale authentication using Descope.
This is an engineer first role. You will work hands on with developers, build real integrations, create technical content, and influence product direction based on direct feedback from the field.

What You’ll Do

  • Engage with developers to understand their use cases, challenges, and goals, and provide hands on technical guidance throughout the integration journey
  • Lead implementation efforts and POCs, helping customers design, deploy, and troubleshoot Descope within their applications
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to translate community feedback into actionable product improvements
  • Create high quality technical content including documentation, guides, sample apps, videos, and demos
  • Contribute to open source projects and build integrations across different platforms and frameworks
  • Plan and deliver developer focused events such as workshops, webinars, hackathons, and conference talks
  • Manage and engage across developer communication channels including Slack, forums, and public communities
  • Support product launches by enabling the developer community with clear, practical, and usable resources

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in Developer Relations, Solutions Engineering, Developer Experience Engineer or a similar customer facing technical role
  • Strong software engineering background with hands on coding experience
  • Proficiency in one or more languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Go
  • Experience working directly with developers on integrations, implementations, or technical onboarding
  • Solid understanding of authentication and authorization concepts including modern AuthN and AuthZ approaches
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly to different audiences
  • Experience building technical content such as documentation, demos, or tutorials
  • Comfortable working cross functionally with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams

Nice to Have

  • Experience with developer communities, forums, or open source contributions
  • Background in identity, security, or authentication platforms
  • Experience speaking at conferences or running technical events

Benefits

  • Health, sorted: Medical, dental, and vision with strong coverage and flexible HSA and FSA options
  • Feel good, actually: Mental health support and wellness resources when you need them
  • Future you will thank you: 401k plan with employer support to help you build long term
  • More money in your pocket: Tax advantaged benefits for healthcare and dependent care
  • Life happens, and we make space for it: maternity leave designed to support you when it matters most.
  • Stay connected: Monthly internet allowance to support your work from anywhere
  • Lunch is on us: Paid lunches when you’re working from the office
  • Keep growing: Budget and opportunities for personal development, including courses and conferences

Descope is an equal opportunity employer. We hire people based on their skills and impact, nothing else. We’re committed to a fair and transparent process across every stage of employment.

Compensation
Base salary range: $130,000 to $170,000
Final offer will depend on experience, skills, location, and overall market data. We also consider leveling, scope, and internal equity to make sure offers are fair and consistent.
