Job description

ABOUT US

Our mission at Avelios is to unlock clinical data to power seamless healthcare operations for better patient care. To do so, we have built a modular software platform that digitizes and optimizes workflows in hospitals with cutting-edge technology in a user-friendly way. With our software, we enable hospitals, doctors & nurses to provide their patients with the best possible care.
We are growing fast and want to keep expanding our team and business to fundamentally digitize healthcare for the better. We appreciate different backgrounds and see diversity as one of our strengths.

THE TEAM AND ROLE

As our Compliance Lead, you will lead and scale Avelios’ compliance function, ensuring that we can grow our impact in healthcare while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, product quality, information security, and regulatory compliance.

In this role, you will own all compliance activities, risk and quality management, and associated certification and audit activities. Working closely with our internal teams (e.g. Product, Engineering, Operations) and external stakeholders, you will translate complex requirements into pragmatic, scalable processes that support both compliance and growth.

We are looking for a hands-on leader who enjoys building systems, driving execution, and creating a culture where compliance is a competitive advantage rather than a bottleneck. You will lead the compliance function, develop a high-performing team and play a key role in strengthening trust with patients, customers, auditors, and regulators.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own Avelios’ end-to-end compliance strategy and operating model: Define priorities, maintain a clear compliance roadmap, and ensure effective management of patient safety, quality, regulatory, and information security risks in alignment with Avelios’ social and business objectives.

  • Build and execute scalable, audit-ready compliance processes: Design scalable policies, controls, and workflows that translate complex legal, regulatory, security, privacy, and quality requirements into processes teams can actually follow.

  • Lead a high-performing team: Select, manage, and coach a team of driven compliance professionals, establish clear ownership, and obtain cross-functional support from experts and stakeholders across the Avelios organization and beyond.

  • Represent Avelios towards auditors: Successfully complete internal and external audits (e.g., ISO 27001, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, BSI C5, MDR) and effectively manage compliance-related customer requests and due diligence activities.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Law, Business Administration, Information Security, Quality Management, Medical Technology, or a related field

  • 5+ years of professional experience in compliance, audit, project management, information security or similarly demanding environments

  • Proven track record of leading audits, certifications and compliance programs, or complex cross-functional initiatives. Experience with healthcare, quality, regulatory, information security, or privacy frameworks (e.g. MDR, ISO 13485, ISO 27001, BSI C5, GDPR) is highly desirable.

  • Strong analytical thinking with a highly structured, diligent, and outcome-oriented working style, while feeling comfortable driving complex topics to closure

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and a solid understanding of modern software environments, security controls, and software development processes

  • Fluency in both German and English (C1 level or higher)

YOUR BENEFITS

  • Variety in your tasks and the opportunity to take ownership

  • An international, informal team structure in a motivating start-up atmosphere, allowing you to participate directly in our customer growth story and the overall success of Avelios

  • Ability to gain valuable hands-on experience in a startup backed by leading international VCs

  • Support for your personal development through continuous learning and feedback

  • Set your own rhythm with flexible working hours and trust-based time tracking

  • A virtual stock option package (VSOP) that lets you participate in Avelios’ long-term value creation

  • A monthly meal allowance up to 75 euros, full coverage of the Deutschlandticket, Urban Sports Club or a subsidized Wellpass membership, a bike leasing program and Corporate Benefits that give you access to discounts from a wide range of providers in various areas
