About the Role: 
Reporting to the VP, Clinical Operations, the Cancer Center Clinical Coordinator will be the primary point of clinical contact for patients, on-site oncology nurses, providers and the other members of the cancer care team. The clinical coordinator is responsible for ensuring timely, quality care delivery at rural cancer sites through training, mentorship and patient care coordination.  The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Serve as precept and mentor to new oncology nurses and provide ongoing support as needed for clinical questions, new or complex therapies or new care delivery systems.
  • Provide remote chemotherapy order and chart verifications as well as assistance with nursing assessments.
  • Assess, triage, and manage clinical calls for Cancer access line.
  • Coordinate between on-site nurses, non-clinical coordinators and the oncologist.
  • Submit and track prior authorizations for chemotherapy, supportive care medications and diagnostics, as needed.
  • Assist oncologist with preparation and execution of orders for medications, diagnostics or outbound referrals.
  • Process molecular testing orders, prescription refill requests, and other miscellaneous clinical requests.
  • Coordinate regularly with on-site pharmacists to ensure cost effective inventory management.
  • Assist with development and delivery of clinical education initiatives.
  • Assist non-clinical coordinators with patient referrals to appropriate community, financial and insurance related resources, as needed.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for clinical process and quality improvement.
  • Oversee clinical integrations during new site launches.
  • Occasionally may be required to serve as onsite nurse for clinic and infusion days.

 

Requirements: 

  • Current multistate RN license
  • 3-5+ years outpatient oncology experience, OCN preferred
  • Current ONS Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Provider Card (may be renewed upon hire if expired)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficient touch-typing skills and knowledge of MS Office Products including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • EMR fluency, ability to adapt to multiple EMR systems
  • A sense of urgency and quality toward completion of duties
  • Maintain patient and partner confidentiality, always abiding by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regarding Patient Health Information (PHI)
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to build and maintain long term relationships and work under moderate supervision
  • Ability to travel 30% as needed
