Position Summary
Latigo Biotherapeutics is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager or Senior Accounting Manager to manage the monthly and quarterly close, prepare accrual entries and reconciliations, and provide a strong review layer across general accounting areas. This individual exercises sound judgment, takes ownership of outcomes, and is highly motivated to consistently deliver high-quality results while supporting the growth and scalability of the organization.
The role will partner closely with the Assistant Controller and cross-functional teams to support an accurate and scalable accounting function. The title and level will be determined based on experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the month-end and quarter-end close, including the close calendar, checklist, priorities, and open items.
- Own complex accounting areas relevant to biotech, accruals, payroll and benefits, stock-based compensation, investments, leases and prepaids.
- Identify and escalate emerging accounting risks in a timely manner and recommend appropriate accounting positions
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, flux analyses, and close support prepared by the accounting team.
- Take ownership of general accounting areas, including G&A accruals, prepaids, cash, fixed assets, and bonus accruals.
- Review assigned CMC and other R&D accruals.
- Review payroll and equity accounting entries and reconciliations.
- Coordinate audit requests and support SOX activities for applicable areas.
- Identify control gaps and implement remediation plans
- Help develop accounting policies, procedures, and documentation
- Lead process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce manual work, and enhance data quality
- Collaborate with SEC reporting function. Own sections of the quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K), including preparation and review of footnote disclosure
- Manage, coach, and lead future direct reports. Provide mentorship and career development opportunities, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA required.
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including close ownership and review of accounting work.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accrual accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement support.
- Biotechnology, life sciences, or clinical accrual experience is strongly preferred.
- Big4 experience with SEC-registered clients and industry experience preferred
- Experience partnering with Clinical Operations and FP&A on clinical trial accruals is preferred.
- Payroll accounting, equity accounting, audit, SOX, and systems implementation experience are beneficial.
- Experience with NetSuite, Prendio, FloQast, Coupa, TriNet, Excel, workflow automation, or AI-enabled tools is a plus.
- AP processing experience preferred
- Ability to identify opportunities where AI can add value, evaluate potential risks or limitations, and implement solutions effectively.
- Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) professionally when dealing with company leadership, employees and vendors.
