Main Street Bank

Marlborough, MA

We are committed to creating a positive banking experience for each and every customer we serve. It's this commitment that makes us the preferred community bank. We like banking, our community, our customers, and our fellow colleagues. And we reflect this positive attitude through individualized delivery of banking services - whether for personal banking or business banking - we look after the financial needs of our customers. Established in 1860. Marlborough Savings Bank was founded on April 3 and incorporated on April 10, 1860 on the eve of the Civil War. The bank was started by local shoe barons as a way for their factory workers to practice thrift. At the time we began, commercial banks were strictly for businesses and wealthy individuals, and 'Savings Banks' allowed people of limited means to start saving, often with as little as 5 cents in an account. Beginning in the late 1960s the banking rules began to change and Savings Banks were allowed to become involved in more than savings accounts and home mortgages. Over time we added various savings options, personal loans, business loans and investment services. And through years of growth we've maintained the value of strong roots in our community, combined with the ability to change and expand as the needs of our customers change.
