Basepaws is a pet genetics company. The first company of its kind, Basepaws created a direct-to-consumer feline DNA test, focusing on delivering breed and trait information and actionable health insights. Each test reveals the genetic breakdown of the cat, with results that explain breed composition and health markers. As more owners add to the growing database, future reports will be able to link results with potential diseases and nutrition needs. We work closely with pet owners, veterinarians, breeders, shelters and pet nutrition companies, and will use genomic data in a variety of fields including pet nutrition and therapeutics. Our products are built on proprietary cost-saving sequencing technology which combines whole genome sequencing with the specificity of amplicon approaches. Our tests are available in various online and offline channels, and the database built will be used in creation of additional products and services, such as personalized pet food and pet health coaching.
