Job description

Job Summary

The Technical Program Manager (TPM), Partner Ecosystem & Integrations is responsible for the technical orchestration, operational compliance, and program execution of Boston Dynamics’ Certified Integrator (CIP) and Certified Service Provider (CSP) partners.

Approximately 65% of this role focuses on end-to-end technical program management—driving partner project schedules, establishing milestone governance, enforcing operational compliance, and steering partner readiness as Boston Dynamics scales into new global markets.

The remaining 35% leverages deep hands-on robotics and systems engineering knowledge to act as a senior technical escalation bridge—performing advanced technical triage, unblocking complex payload/API integrations, and validating partner deployment architectures.

Sitting at the intersection of external partners, Customer Experience (CX), Product Engineering, and Sales, this role transforms third-party integrators into reliable, autonomous force multipliers for global fleet expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Program Management, Governance & Steering (65%)

  • Partner Program & Milestone Governance: Lead cross-functional execution across a portfolio of certified integration and service partners, tracking delivery schedules, critical path milestones, and gate reviews from scoping through commissioning.

  • Operational Compliance & Quality Gating: Define, monitor, and enforce partner operational compliance, field safety standards, and deployment quality metrics (SLAs, First-Pass Yield, and mean time to integrate).

  • New Market & Partner Steering: Act as the primary operational anchor steering partner readiness in newly opened industry verticals and regional territories, establishing launch timelines and resource allocation.

  • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Serve as the central communication hub between external partner PMOs, Boston Dynamics Engineering, Product Management, and CX leadership to resolve cross-project dependencies and technical blockers.

  • Continuous Program Improvement: Establish standardized deployment templates, operational runbooks, and programmatic certification gates that reduce integration cycle times and eliminate custom project friction[cite: 1, 3].

Technical Triage & Systems Architecture Escalation (35%)

  • Tier 3/4 Technical Triage & Escalation: Serve as the technical escalation point for critical partner issues in the field, conducting deep-dive triage across networking, API/SDK software, payloads, and electromechanical hardware to isolate root causes.

  • Integration Design Reviews: Perform rigorous technical reviews of partner system architectures, mechanical designs, network topologies, and custom software wrappers against Boston Dynamics engineering specifications.

  • Technical Enablement & Certification Audits: Partner with Technical Training to assess partner technical competencies, evaluate real-world pilot deployments, and sign off on technical certification readiness.

  • Voice of Partner Technical Feedback: Aggregate ground-level failure modes, tooling gaps, and integration friction from partner projects into structured inputs for Product and Introspective Tooling engineering roadmaps[cite: 1, 3].

Core Competencies

  • Technical Program Governance: Proven ability to manage multi-stakeholder technical projects, establish rigorous operational milestones, mitigate delivery risks, and enforce compliance.

  • Systems-Level Technical Acumen: Strong electromechanical, networking, and software comprehension to assess technical feasibility and triage complex automated systems.

  • Operational Decisiveness & SLA Management: High accountability in establishing accountability frameworks, auditing quality metrics, and steering partner performance.

  • Cross-Functional Bridge Building: Skilled in translating high-level business and go-to-market priorities into tactical engineering schedules and vice versa.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Program Management Tooling: Advanced proficiency with enterprise program management and issue-tracking platforms (Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, Salesforce).

  • Robotics & Systems Integration: Working knowledge of robotics systems architectures (ROS/APIs, industrial communications, sensor payloads, edge computing, Linux/Ubuntu environments).

  • Industrial Networking: Understanding of enterprise IT/OT network architectures, firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and industrial wireless environments.

  • Partner / Ecosystem Management: Demonstrated experience steering third-party engineering firms, value-added resellers (VARs), or EPC/automation integrators.

Typical Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical
discipline. PMP, CAPM, or Agile/Scrum certifications a plus.

  • Experience: 4–7 years of technical experience in robotics, industrial automation, or complex hardware/software systems.

  • At least 3 years explicitly spent driving Technical Program Management (TPM), technical project management, or partner integration programs involving multi-site deployments.

  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally for partner audits, critical escalations, and regional operational launches.

  • Work Authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. Boston Dynamics cannot sponsor visas for this role.

The pay range for this position is between $135,000 to $175,000 annually. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Boston Dynamics offers a generous Benefits package including medical, dental vision, 401(k), paid time off and a annual bonus structure. Additional details regarding these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer for employment.
