About Numeral:
At Numeral, we're building the future of tax by bringing together AI agents, human expertise, and global compliance.
We’re the largest and fastest-growing AI-native tax solution. Today, we serve more than 3,500 global businesses, including companies like Supabase, Eight Sleep, and Graza. We’ve grown quickly across our core e-commerce and software segments, more than tripled our revenue every year, and expanded into new industries, including manufacturing, distribution, and wholesale.
Numeral has raised over $157M from Insight Partners, Salesforce Ventures, Benchmark, Mayfield, Y Combinator, and many others.
About the role:
We’re hiring a Strategic Finance Lead to help Numeral make better business decisions and carry them through to results. You’ll join a small finance team, work closely with the VP of Finance, and partner with leaders across the business.
This is a senior individual contributor role with ownership of defined areas of planning and selected strategic and systems projects. You’ll work alongside our existing strategic finance team to tackle questions that matter to the business, from the economics of a product launch to the rollout of a new planning platform. You’ll frame the problem, build the analysis, make a recommendation, and work across teams to put it into practice.
You’ll have direct exposure to leadership, meaningful influence over where we invest, and room to take on broader scope as the company grows.
What you'll do:
Lead strategic projects through implementation. Own projects in areas such as pricing, new-product economics, go-to-market strategy, and capital allocation. Frame the problem, model the options, align teams on a recommendation, and help execute and measure the outcome.
Own key parts of planning and forecasting. Maintain driver-based forecasts, headcount and capacity models, and recurring KPI dashboards for your areas of responsibility. Contribute to the annual budget and long-range plan, explain monthly and quarterly variances, and recommend actions.
Understand what drives growth and profitability. Analyze the funnel, marketing returns, retention, gross margin, and customer economics. Test the assumptions behind the metrics and turn your findings into decisions about where to invest.
Partner with business leaders. Work directly with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations to set goals, evaluate hiring and investment proposals, and work through tradeoffs. Bring a clear finance perspective and stay involved as decisions are put into practice.
Make the business clear to leadership and investors. Own analysis and written narratives for selected board and investor materials, and support fundraising and diligence workstreams. Be precise about the numbers, the assumptions, and the implications.
Build and implement finance systems. Lead selected finance systems projects, including planning and reporting tools, from requirements and tool evaluation through implementation and adoption. Use AI and automation to improve speed and reliability, and partner with Accounting and Data to strengthen data quality.
What you'll bring:
Relevant finance and operating experience. Typically 5–8 years combining rigorous analytical training in investment banking, investing, or a comparable role with operating finance experience at a B2B software company during rapid growth. We value demonstrated ownership and judgment over an exact career path.
Excellent financial modeling. You can build a clean, driver-based Excel model from scratch, keep it understandable, and work quickly without compromising accuracy.
High agency and follow-through. You can take a broad objective, figure out what matters, and drive it to completion. You get up to speed quickly on unfamiliar business problems and tools, find the resources you need, and keep people aligned without waiting for detailed instructions.
Strong commercial instincts. You understand SaaS metrics and unit economics, including ARR, retention, CAC, payback, and gross margin. You can question how a metric is defined and recognize when it may mislead.
Practical AI fluency. You use AI in your work and can point to an analysis or workflow you’ve improved or automated with it. You know how to validate the output.
Clear communication and integrity. You explain complex analyses simply and communicate findings candidly, including when the numbers challenge expectations. You raise issues early, challenge assumptions constructively, and build trust through a low-ego, collaborative approach.
Nice to haves:
SQL and BI tools such as Hex, Looker, or Sigma.
Experience with pricing, sales compensation, or subscription and usage-based revenue models.
Exposure to fundraising, board reporting, or modern planning tools such as Pigment or Anaplan.
