Job title
Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack
Job location
Mountain View, California, United States
Job description

Matternet is building the future of delivery with autonomous drone networks that move critical goods faster, cleaner, and at lower cost. We work with partners across healthcare, logistics, food, and retail to deliver everything from medical items to everyday essentials, safely and reliably.

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack to join the platform team that builds and runs the software behind Matternet's delivery network. You'll own the web applications that operators, partners, and customers use every day, from the interface down through the APIs that power it, and help set the technical direction of our frontend. This is a hands-on role in a safety-critical environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Own and deliver operator, partner, and customer-facing web applications end to end, from UI through API
  • Build and extend backend services and APIs that support those applications
  • Set frontend architecture, standards, and patterns, including component design, state management, performance, and accessibility
  • Own the quality of what ships through end-to-end and integration testing, code review, and release practices
  • Provide technical support, triaging and resolving production and field issues
  • Collaborate with product, operations, backend, and safety teams to turn requirements into reliable workflows

Requirements

  • 6+ years building and operating production web applications, with a track record of owning major features or products independently
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React, with experience building on modern web frameworks
  • Solid backend skills in Node.js/TypeScript, including API design and relational databases
  • Experience with automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end) and CI/CD
  • An eye for usable, reliable UX in operational or data-heavy applications
  • Clear technical communication and cross-functional collaboration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with authentication and identity providers
  • Experience with real-time data, mapping, dashboards, or operational control interfaces
  • Experience with e-commerce or ordering platforms
  • UAV, aerospace, logistics, or other operationally critical domain experience
  • Experience using AI coding assistants to accelerate development

Benefits

At Matternet, we’re advancing a new era of logistics, one where autonomous drones deliver what matters faster, cleaner, and more efficiently. We know our mission is challenging, but it's worth it, and we are committed to taking care of the people who make it possible.

  • Compensation: The expected starting range for this role is $195,000–$235,000, based on San Francisco Bay Area market data. This range reflects the target starting pay for candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the role. Final compensation will depend on factors such as your experience, skills, level, location, and potential impact.
  • Total Rewards: In addition to base pay, our compensation packages include equity and benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage, flexible spending accounts (FSA), unlimited paid time off, company holidays, and a 401(k) plan.
