Job title
Embedded DSP Firmware Engineer - HW/SW Integration
Job location
Cordoba, Argentina
Job description

Imagine being part of a team that’s redefining the future of mobility—where your ideas don’t just sit in a lab but power next-generation technology. At indie, we are developing cutting-edge semiconductors, photonics, and radar sensors and systems for automotive, industrial, and adjacent markets. Our innovations are at the heart of advanced intelligent sensing and user experience applications, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

If you're passionate about groundbreaking technology and want to make a real impact alongside a fast-paced team that thrives on creativity and collaboration, we’d love to have you on board!

Do you enjoy working in a creative, fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment? With indie Semiconductor, Inc. (Nasdaq: INDI), an Autotech solutions innovator, you'll never walk alone! We place high value on our teams and pursue excellence for our employees and customers!

indie Semiconductor is a fabless semiconductor company specializing in the design of innovative mixed-signal System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions for automotive applications.

Our design team develops custom and standard SoC solutions for automotive applications that integrate advanced digital ICs (Arm® Cortex® MCUs and/or DSP) with mixed-signal devices into a single System-in-Package (SiP). The mixed signal can include power management, RF, high voltage, as well as high-speed converters, allowing us to provide complete solutions to our international customer base.

You will join a small team of highly competent engineers involved in the design, implementation, and verification of firmware for embedded systems targeting automotive driver assistance system (ADAS) applications. You will architect, design, implement, and support firmware modules and sample applications. You will also support the hardware SoC design team’s pre-silicon verification and application engineering group’s customer-facing demonstration platforms. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented and motivated firmware developer to join a growing team of engineers who strive to solve automotive problems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design top-level simulation and FPGA tests from the test plan to ensure correct system-level integration before tape-out
  • Collaborate with digital design engineers to integrate software with SoC-specific accelerators, so firmware is ready for silicon bring-up on day 1
  • Profile and map neural-network models onto hardware accelerators when required, translating high-level framework metrics into efficient machine code and data flow
  • Design, develop, and optimize DSP embedded software for ADAS systems, including DSP techniques, data-path design, and cycle/memory profiling
  • Support customer-facing activities such as firmware customization and root-cause analysis, together with application engineering
  • Use AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude, and other LLMs) to accelerate implementation, test generation, documentation, and debugging
  • Contribute to Git-based workflows and CI (build, regression, and bring-up tests)

Job Requirements

These are the skills and know-how an ideal candidate would bring. We understand that nobody is perfect! After all, your new job should challenge you, and you will have the opportunity to grow.

  • B.S. in Electronic/Computer Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 1+ years of embedded firmware experience (or equivalent depth), including bring-up and debugging on real hardware or FPGA
  • Deep understanding of computer architecture principles: pipelining, memory hierarchy (caches/MMU), interrupts/exceptions, and ISA-level behavior
  • Strong Embedded C and working Assembly for ISRs, exception handlers, and bare-metal driver development
  • Solid command of build toolchains and object-file formats (ELF), including linker scripts for memory placement and system initialization
  • Familiarity with HW/SW partitioning and mapping of neural-network models onto heterogeneous architectures (CPU/DSP/NPU)
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, or equivalent LLMs) in day-to-day engineering work
  • Excellent communication in Spanish and English (written and verbal), with a collaborative mindset for cross-site, team-based development

What Extra Skills Make You Stand Out?

The following skills are not required for the position. If you have experience in any of them, it would be a plus. The goal is to understand candidates' backgrounds and/or strengths.

  • Experience with SIMD/VLIW, fixed-point arithmetic, and cycle-accurate profiling
  • Hands-on firmware development experience with Cadence Tensilica (Xtensa), ARM Cortex-M/R/A, as well as familiarity with RISC-V (RV32/RV64), including CSRs, interrupt and exception models, toolchains, and ABI conventions
  • RTOS experience (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or AUTOSAR OS) in addition to bare-metal
