SUMMARY

The Director, Packaging and Creative Services leads packaging innovation, strategy, design, and production across FAM Brands’ portfolio of owned, licensed, and private-label brands. The Director sets the creative vision for packaging, mentors the team, removes obstacles, and steps into the work when risk, volume, or staffing requires it. This is a hands-on leadership role demonstrated through actionable innovation, sound decisions, direct ownership, and clear communication. This role is based at our Beverly Hills headquarters a minimum of four days per week, with the option to work remotely on Fridays depending on business needs.

Packaging Innovation and Strategy

  • Lead the packaging innovation agenda across substrates, structures, folding methods, materials, finishes, closures, and merchandising formats.
  • Monitor club and other retail environments and use competitive trends and prior-year learnings to identify opportunities for new and improved packaging.
  • Maintain a seasonal pipeline of packaging concepts and advance selected ideas through development, prototyping, feasibility review, and refinement.
  • Present vetted concepts, prototypes, trade-offs, and recommendations each season for final approval by the Vice President, Marketing Services or designated stakeholder.
  • Set and refine packaging direction based on business objectives, customer needs, brand requirements, and retailer expectations.
  • Participate in project handoff meetings as needed to confirm business, brand, retailer, cost, timing, and production requirements before work begins.
  • Guide the development of graphics, visual systems, structures, merchandising, and in-package communication. Maintain consistency across brands while adapting execution for retailer and channel requirements.

Leadership and Creative Oversight

  • Serve as the primary packaging creative lead for Sales, Design, and Production. Collaborate with the Vice President, Marketing Services on creative reviews of new packaging concepts and photography.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Packaging Designers and Project Managers. Set priorities, timelines, decision rights, quality standards, and accountability, and provide clear, actionable feedback.
  • Partner with Project Managers to balance capacity, remove obstacles, and step into execution when needed.
  • Evaluate post-production and photo-editing output against brand and creative guidelines in partnership with the Vice President, Marketing Services and the Senior Manager, Marketing Ops, who manages the team’s day-to-day work.

Production and Cross-Functional Execution

  • Oversee structural design, pack-out, PDQ and tray configuration, product visibility, protection, restock, and floorready presentation.
  • Ensure dimensions, materials, closures, unit counts, usability, and production feasibility are validated before approval.
  • Establish and maintain color-management and print-production standards across internal teams, Production, Factories, and suppliers, including device calibration, ICC profiles, file preparation, proofing, tolerances, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Packaging Designers to review production files and color-accurate proofs, resolve color, prepress, and physical-proof issues, and confirm readiness for final approval before bulk production.
  • Work with Sales, Design, Production, and Factories to resolve construction, cost, quality, timing, and minimum-order issues.
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards, retailer specifications, regulatory requirements, and production parameters.

Creative Services Operations

  • Review and refine workflows for intake, briefing, reviews, approvals, version control, proofing, and final delivery.
  • Review Project Manager reporting on schedules, workload, output, and production risks across concurrent packaging programs.
  • Improve templates, design systems, and processes to increase consistency and reduce errors.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of creative style guides covering brand, retailer, and licensed-brand requirements for photo editors, packaging designers, and asset-trafficking and quality-control teams.
  • Ensure briefs and presentations give Sales, Design, Production, and Factories clear direction for execution.
  • Maintain proficiency in core workflows to provide coverage when needed.

Experience

  • Extensive fashion or apparel packaging experience, preferably in club wholesale, multi-brand, or high-volume retail. Ownership of packaging from concept through print-ready production and physical-proof approval.
  • Expertise in graphic design, structural packaging, dielines, substrates, prepress, print production, and merchandising displays.
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite and working knowledge of 3D rendering, structural design, or packaging-visualization tools.
  • Expertise in color management, including device calibration, ICC profiles, SWOP and ISO workflows, proof evaluation, and print tolerances; experience working with international printers preferred.
  • Experience leading creative and project-management teams and partnering effectively with stakeholders
  • Ability to apply brand standards, retailer specifications, cost targets, and production requirements across multiple programs.
