Job description

About Airwallex

Airwallex is the AI-native financial operating system for a real-time, intelligent economy. More than 675,000 businesses, including McLaren Racing, Qantas, SHEIN, and TikTok, use us, directly or through our platform partners, to run their financial operations or build and monetize financial products of their own.

We started in Melbourne in 2015 to build the infrastructure global commerce runs on. We're the regulated backbone behind global payments: not by accident, but by design. A decade plus, 85+ licenses, and a financial infrastructure spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

We're co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore, with more than 2,700 people across 27 offices. We hire builders with founder-level energy, people who move fast with good judgment, dig in with real curiosity, and make calls from first principles rather than waiting to be told what to do. Read our operating principles to see it in full.

What you'll do

You'll lead product marketing for the products developers use to build on Airwallex: the APIs, the sandbox, the docs, and AgentOS, including its MCP servers, CLI, and skills. Your audiences are developers, technical founders, builders who use AI coding tools, and the technology partners that integrate with Airwallex.

This is a senior individual contributor role. You'll combine positioning and launch work with enough technical ability to test the product yourself. Most of your time goes to deciding what we say about each product and to whom, planning launches around that message, and checking sandbox and production usage to see whether developers get from reading about Airwallex to a first API call and then to production.

You'll work with the partner integrations, developer content, and developer partnerships roles, the DevX product team, and the technical writers who own the API reference and product documentation. You own the message and the launch plans, both the strategy and the execution, and you rely on those teams for the integrations, documentation, and case studies rather than producing them yourself. You'll also work with Marketing and Communications on channels and timing.

Several of these products are new and still changing. Expect to revise the positioning as capabilities ship, to use the products yourself, and to spend real time with developers and technical founders, learning what they were trying to build and where they got stuck. How well developers understand what Airwallex offers, and how many of them move from the sandbox to production, depends in part on this work.

Responsibilities

  • Define and update the positioning and core messaging for each developer product and audience, including how developers compare Airwallex with other payment and financial APIs on time to first API call, product coverage, and documentation quality.

  • Maintain the product names and definitions, plus a plain description of what works in the sandbox versus production, for AgentOS and the other developer products. Make sure the website, docs, listings in AI tools and agent platforms, campaign material, and sales material use them.

  • Plan and run launches for developer products and major features, from the internal brief through the announcement, docs update, and developer channel posts. Set the goal and the usage metric before each launch and report the result afterward.

  • Write the positioning documents, launch posts, and landing page copy. Brief the Developer Content Manager on the priority messages for each launch, and review case studies, teardowns, and explainers for positioning before they publish.

  • Work with the technical writers on the docs landing page and Get Started path so a new developer can find the right product and reach a first API call. The technical writers own the documentation.

  • Track developer adoption with Product and Data Science: new sandbox accounts, accounts that make a successful API call, monthly active sandbox accounts, and conversion to production. Find where developers stall and recommend changes to the message, the docs, or the product. Work with Sales and Solutions Engineering to define a qualified developer lead from sandbox activity and how it is handed off.

  • Check claims in developer-facing material against what is shipped today, and work with Product, Legal, and Compliance on wording for regulated products. State plainly what works in the sandbox, what works in production, and what is not available yet.

  • Give Strategic Partnerships, Solutions Engineering, and Sales the product story, demo flow, and answers to common developer questions for each launch. Give Marketing the developer messaging for campaigns, including developer influencer work.

  • Bring what you learn from developers to Product and DevX: where they get stuck, what they misunderstand, and what they ask for, based on support questions, Docs AI questions, developer Slack, docs feedback, and reference builds.

Who you are

  • 7+ years of experience in product marketing, developer marketing, or a similar role, including time positioning and launching APIs, developer tools, or other technical products.

  • Hands-on technical ability. You can read API documentation, make API calls, and build a small working prototype, including with AI coding tools, and you can show us something you've built.

  • Strong writing. You can show a positioning document, launch post, or landing page you wrote for developers and explain what happened after it shipped.

  • Experience owning launches from the brief through the results, and setting goals with usage data such as sign-ups, activation, and conversion.

  • Experience working with Product, Engineering, Sales, Legal, and Marketing, including pushing back when a claim goes beyond what the product does today.

  • Comfortable setting direction when products are changing quickly and the process around them isn't settled, and getting to outcomes in a lean environment

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience marketing payments, fintech infrastructure, or other regulated financial products, and working with Legal or Compliance on product claims.

  • Experience with AI agents, MCP, agent frameworks, or AI coding tools, either in a product you marketed or in your own work.

  • A developer launch where you can name the usage metric that moved and by how much.

  • Experience working with technical writers on docs landing pages, getting-started paths, or search optimization.

  • Experience with startups and technical founders, including accelerator programs, developer communities, or hackathons.
