Job description

About Helius

Helius is building the core infrastructure for Solana - empowering developers to create the next generation of crypto-powered applications. Our mission is to accelerate the development of internet capital markets by making it easier, faster, and more intuitive to build on-chain.

Thousands of teams - from early-stage startups to industry leaders like Coinbase, Phantom, and Jupiter - rely on Helius APIs, webhooks, and indexing tools to power their products. Backed by Haun Ventures, Founders Fund, and Foundation Capital, we’re a small, senior team obsessed with performance, simplicity, and scalability in decentralized systems.

Read our Helius Manifesto to see how we work and what we value.

About the Role

We’re hiring for roles where the best candidates aren’t looking, and many have never considered crypto. You’ll own full-cycle recruiting for our hardest engineering searches: database and performance engineers for our core data teams, Rust and backend engineers for streaming and enriched data, platform and bare-metal infrastructure engineers, and technical roles that face developers, such as Developer Advocate. You’ll report to the VP of People and partner directly with Helius’s Engineering leadership.

Most of your work will be engineering hiring. As a lean company, you’ll also flex to support other functions when the business needs it.

What You'll Do

  • Own a set of engineering searches from intake to signed offer, at levels from intermediate to staff.

  • Work with Engineering leadership to decide what a good hire looks like for each role and what level it should be. If a req or a profile doesn’t make sense, tell them.

  • Build outbound pipelines into infrastructure, cloud, devtools, database, and data companies. Our best hires have often worked at both big infrastructure companies and fast-moving startups, so look at both.

  • Find engineers who are growing fast. We’d take someone with 3 years of steep growth over someone with 10 flat years.

  • Pitch the engineering problem first and the token never. Engineers who would delete a crypto recruiter’s message will still read one about distributed systems.

  • Run our interview process in Ashby. It should be fast and rigorous, and it shouldn’t lower the bar to get there.

  • Handle closing from start to finish. That includes pulling in founders and investors at the right moments when a candidate is weighing offers from bigger companies.

  • Make our referral program actually produce hires. That means going through the team’s networks yourself instead of waiting for submissions.

  • Track pipeline health and conversion at each stage, then use what you find to fix the slow spots.

  • Help build our reputation with engineers through outreach, content, and showing up at engineering events and conferences, including Rust community events. Travel is occasional.

Your First 90 Days

  • Take over our highest-priority search: a deep database and performance engineer for one of our core data teams.

  • Learn our engineering org well enough to pitch every open role in your own words.

  • Build an outbound pipeline that doesn’t depend on agencies or inbound.

  • Audit our interview process and funnel data, and bring back what you’d change.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years recruiting engineers, with a track record of closing backend, infrastructure, database, or systems roles across levels, including senior and staff.

  • Strong sourcing instincts. You enjoy the hunt and have your own playbook for finding people who aren’t on the market, including engineers outside crypto.

  • Technical fluency. You don’t need to code, but you can talk distributed systems, databases, and performance with engineers without losing them.

  • Startup or high-growth experience where you were expected to move fast and get it right.

  • The confidence to push back on hiring managers and drive alignment.

  • Clear, direct communication and real follow-through.

  • A bias for action and ownership of outcomes, not just activity.

Nice to Have

  • Recruiting experience at an infrastructure, devtools, cloud, or database company.

  • A network in the Rust or systems engineering community.

  • Experience with Ashby and AI-assisted sourcing tools.

Why Helius?

  • High-impact work: You’ll work side by side with Engineering leadership, and your hires will directly shape the teams building critical infrastructure. At our size, every hire changes the company.

  • Real ownership: You’ll help define how Helius hires engineers, including success profiles, sourcing strategy, and process, not just work through a req list.

  • Remote-first flexibility: Work where you’re most effective with a flexible, fully distributed team.

  • Competitive comp & perks: Market-leading salary, meaningful equity, generous vacation, wellness budgets, and support for learning and travel.

  • Mission-driven team: You’ll work alongside people who move fast, take ownership, and care about doing things well.
