Position Summary

Software Test Engineer II is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software products through the design, development, and execution of comprehensive test strategies. Working within an Agile development environment, this individual collaborates closely with software engineers, product owners, and cross-functional teams to identify defects, validate requirements, and drive continuous quality improvements throughout the software development lifecycle.

This role is expected to leverage AI-assisted development and testing tools to enhance productivity, improve test coverage, accelerate defect detection, and continuously optimise software quality processes. The successful candidate will demonstrate a quality-first mindset while embracing emerging technologies and modern engineering practices.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases based on product requirements and design specifications.
  • Design and implement test automation frameworks and testing tools to improve test coverage and efficiency.
  • Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate test case creation, automate repetitive testing activities, improve defect analysis, and increase testing effectiveness.
  • Evaluate and incorporate AI-based testing techniques and tools to improve product quality, testing efficiency, and engineering productivity.
  • Perform functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and end-to-end testing.
  • Identify, document, track, and verify software defects through resolution.
  • Collaborate with software developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure testability.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes by integrating automated testing into development pipelines.
  • Analyse test results, prepare test reports, and communicate quality metrics to project stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with established quality standards, testing methodologies, and engineering best practices.
  • Support investigation and validation of customer-reported issues and production incidents when required.
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to testing processes, tools, and frameworks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Typically 2–5 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or software engineering.
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and test automation solutions.
  • Experience testing cloud-based, web, desktop, or distributed software systems.
  • Familiarity with programming or scripting languages such as C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
  • Experience with testing tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development or testing tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, AI-powered testing platforms) to improve engineering efficiency and software quality.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile/Scrum methodologies, and CI/CD practices.
  • Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with API testing using Postman, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Knowledge of performance, security, or load testing methodologies.
  • Experience working in regulated environments or software products requiring validation and compliance testing.
