Job description

Our Mission

Rebuild how the world works, to make institutions work better for the people they serve.

About Brain Co.

Brain Co. builds AI-native operating systems for large, regulated institutions. Each system is built for a specific industry, powered by agents that push real workflows forward. Underneath it all is Atlas, our proprietary platform that keeps customers in control, secure by design, and never locked into one model.

Why Now

Brain Co. is entering its next phase of production deployments on a national scale with an elite team built from Palantir, Google, Meta, and Nvidia, and a growing footprint across government, insurance, health, and financial services.

Joining now means shaping both the company and a new category of applied AI. Every project here ships to production and is expected to create measurable customer value and impact.

You'll work alongside exceptional peers on some of the hardest problems in applied AI. It’s the kind of work you'll still be proud of in ten years from now.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Manager, IT to lead our day-to-day technology operations and build the systems that help our team move faster. You’ll combine hands-on technical work with people leadership, guiding a growing team of approximately five IT professionals supporting employees across San Francisco, New York, and additional locations as we scale.

Automation will be central to your work. You’ll identify repeated manual tasks, connect tools and systems, and build workflows that reduce overhead and improve the employee experience. You’ll also own operational priorities, lead incident response, and partner with Security to keep our environment reliable and secure.

This role calls for someone who takes ownership from identifying a problem through resolving it. You’ll bring sound judgment about where structure helps, keep processes appropriate for our stage, and stay close to the technical work as you develop the team.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead IT operations. Own day-to-day technology operations across employee devices, business applications, identity and access management, and workplace technology.

  • Build automation. Design and implement workflows that replace repeated manual tasks, streamline onboarding and offboarding, and improve how our tools and systems work together.

  • Set priorities and deliver outcomes. Balance employee needs, operational issues, and longer-term improvements, focusing the team on the work with the greatest impact.

  • Manage incidents and escalations. Drive issues through resolution, communicate clearly with employees and executives, and address root causes to prevent recurring problems.

  • Partner with Security. Implement and maintain patch management, access controls, and data protection practices that support our security and compliance requirements.

  • Develop the IT team. Manage a team of approximately five, providing coaching, clear expectations, and opportunities to grow while coordinating work across locations.

  • Build processes that scale. Create practical documentation and operating practices that improve consistency and reliability without adding unnecessary overhead.

Who You Are

  • You bring approximately seven or more years of relevant IT experience, including experience leading and developing a team.

  • You have a strong track record of building process automation, using AI, integrations, or workflow tools to reduce manual work and improve reliability.

  • You’re comfortable working hands-on across employee technology environments, including Mac, Microsoft tools, Okta, endpoint management, and SaaS administration.

  • You prioritize effectively, make decisions with incomplete information, and stay calm while managing incidents and competing demands.

  • You understand security and compliance fundamentals, including patch management, access controls, and data protection.

  • You solve problems independently, follow through on issues, and look beyond individual tickets to improve the underlying systems.

  • You communicate clearly with technical teams, employees, and executives, adapting your approach to the situation.

  • You thrive in an early-stage environment where priorities evolve and you can help shape how the function grows.

  • Experience managing distributed or global teams is a plus.

Join Us

If you’re excited about building an IT function that helps a fast-moving team do its best work, we’d love to hear from you.
