Job title
Product Application Scientist

Fremont, California
Job description

At Alamar, we are passionate about enabling our customers to make scientific discoveries that translate into clinical outcomes and benefit patients. Our team is growing quickly as we develop innovative approaches to measure critical protein biomarkers from liquid samples that can enable the earliest possible detection of disease. We believe the next frontier in biology is enabled by measuring proteins at higher sensitivity in highly multiplexed assays at the push of a button, which is something only Alamar can do. As we build our team, we seek collaborative, driven, intellectually curious people committed to solving complex challenges. Our culture rewards accountability and cross functional teamwork because we believe this enables the kind of breakthrough thinking that will accelerate our mission.

We are seeking a highly motivated and scientifically driven Product Application Scientist to support custom assay development, assay transfer activities, and technical customer support for advanced immunoassay platforms. This role serves as a critical bridge between assay development, technical support, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams to ensure successful implementation and transfer of custom assays and workflows. The ideal candidate combines deep immunoassay expertise with strong communication, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration skills to drive technical excellence across custom assay development projects and method transfers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as an internal scientific expert for custom assay development projects and Technical Access Program (TAP) initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to customers, FAS, PAS, and internal stakeholders using NULISA platforms.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and technical escalations related to assay design, optimization, conjugation, controls, and workflows.
  • Support data interpretation, experimental design, and troubleshooting discussions with internal teams and customers.
  • Partner with FAS, PAS, Product Management, and R&D to develop training materials, SOPs, workflow guides, and technical content.
  • Contribute to development of technical notes for novel assay formats, conjugation strategies, and emerging applications.
  • Support development and validation of AI-driven assay development tools and experimental design templates in collaboration with software teams.
  • Coordinate method transfer activities including reagent preparation, inventory management, shipping, and equivalency testing.
  • Design, execute, and troubleshoot immunoassay experiments to support assay validation and transfer readiness.
  • Support development of workplans and Statements of Work (SOWs) for custom assay development projects.
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication to ensure smooth transfer of assays into support environments.

Qualifications

  • PhD or MS in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related life sciences field.
  • 2+ years of experience in immunoassay development, bioanalytical sciences, or technical applications support.
  • Hands-on experience with immunoassay platforms such as ELISA, bead-based assays, or digital immunoassays.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex assay workflows and interpreting experimental data.
  • Strong scientific communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
