Operations Associate - Fresh Grocery, Philadelphia, #1463
Job location
Philadelphia, PA
Job description

Gopuff is looking for Fresh Grocery Operations Associates (OAs) to keep fresh product moving from the dock to the truck. Reporting directly to a Site Leader, you'll receive and put away inbound fresh grocery, then pick, pack and load outbound orders onto delivery trucks. It's a role that takes drive, perseverance, positivity, and real care for keeping food fresh and safe.

Customers turn to Gopuff for their everyday essentials—day and night, rain or shine—and more and more of that is fresh: produce, meat, dairy, deli and frozen. We're assembling a team of thinkers, dreamers and risk takers who are ready to help us reshape the world of retail faster than ever before. And it doesn't hurt if you like snacks.

Responsibilities:

Inbound: receiving fresh grocery

  • Unload and receive pallets of fresh, refrigerated product from vendors

  • Verify physical counts against the purchase order/invoice and resolve discrepancies

  • Inspect product on arrival for temperature, quality, damage and code dates; reject or flag product that doesn't meet standards

  • Move product into cold storage quickly to protect the cold chain, and put away to the correct temperature zone and location

  • Rotate stock using strict FIFO/FEFO practice to manage waste and spoilage

  • Pull expired, damaged or out-of-spec product and record it accurately

  • Outbound: picking, packing and loading trucks

    • Pick fresh grocery orders accurately and on time using handheld scanners

    • Pack orders by temperature zone (ambient, chilled, frozen) using the right totes, liners, insulation and ice packs or dry ice

    • Label, stage and build outbound loads by route and departure time

    • Load totes onto delivery trucks safely, keeping product at temperature until departure

    • Confirm load accuracy and complete outbound paperwork or system scans before trucks leave

    • Handle returns and unloaded product, re-shelving or disposing of it per food safety rules

    • Food safety and site standards

      • Follow all health, safety and sanitation guidelines for fresh and perishable food

      • Log temperatures for coolers, freezers and trucks as required

      • Clean and sanitize work areas, totes, carts and cold storage on a set schedule

      • Keep the dock, cooler, freezer and pick areas clean, organized and safe

      • Physical requirements of the role

        • Work in cooler and freezer environments for extended periods throughout shifts

        • Stand, push, pull, squat, bend, reach and walk during shifts

        • Use pallet jacks, carts, dollies and other equipment to move product safely

        • Handle, scan and move product in a safe and well-organized manner

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience in grocery, warehouse, distribution or food handling (preferred, not required)
  • Comfortable working in cold environments, including freezers, for long stretches
  • The ability to work a fluid schedule and be available during peak shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts), including early-morning receiving and truck departures
  • General working knowledge of handheld scanners and basic web-based software (e.g. Google G-Suite)
  • Stand and walk for the duration of an assigned shift
  • Lift up to 49 pounds
  • Food handler certification (preferred, or willing to obtain)
  • Forklift or powered pallet jack experience (a plus)
  • Available to work flexible hours that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and holidays
  • Pay:
  • Gopuff pays employees based on market pricing and pay may vary depending on your location. Compensation for U.S. locations is based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area.
  • Philadelphia, PA: $15.80/hr
  • The salary range above reflects what we’d reasonably expect to pay candidates. A candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. For additional information on this role’s compensation package, please reach out to the designated recruiter for this role.
