Job description

CHAOS Industries is redefining modern defense with a multi-product portfolio that gives the ultimate advantage—domain dominance. The company's products are powered by Coherent Distributed Networks (CDN™), empowering warfighters, commercial air operators, and border protection teams to act faster, adapt rapidly, and stay ahead of evolving threats.

CHAOS Industries was founded in 2022 and has raised a total of $1 billion in funding from leading investors, including 8VC, Accel, and Valor Equity Partners. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles, with offices in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, and London. For more information, please visit www.chaosinc.com.

Role Overview

The Mission Execution Lead (MEL) is the bridge between our customers and CHAOS. Based out of the UK, you will own the end-to-end planning and execution of customer demonstrations, exercises, contracts and deliveries across the UK, Europe and the Middle East. This runs from the first pre-sales conversation through post-contract implementation. You will stay as close to the customer as possible, as often as possible. Know their requirements and the people behind them, and make sure everything CHAOS executes is aligned to exactly that.

This is a customer-facing role. You will take full ownership of the planning process, align cross-functional teams, and identify risk early so it can be addressed before it becomes a problem. You are proactive and forward leaning, and equally comfortable in a jacket and tie as in a tactical vehicle. No two days will be the same.

Just as important, you are a collaborative teammate. You work easily across functions and mentor junior colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Be the bridge between customer and CHAOS. International militaries are demanding customers, each with their own language. Build trust in their environment, understand their needs and the people behind them, and translate that back to CHAOS. You are the customer's ambassador within CHAOS, and CHAOS' representative to the customer.
  • Own execution end to end. Take full ownership of planning and delivering demonstrations, exercises, site surveys, customer training, contract milestones and deliveries, and make sure each one is aligned to what the customer actually needs.
  • Align cross-functional teams. Pull engineering, product, operations and leadership together around a single plan, keep everyone informed, and make sure the right people and equipment are in the right place at the right time.
  • Identify and address risk early. Look ahead, spot risks to schedule, mission, reputation and personnel before others do, and drive them to resolution.
  • Know the product and the tech. Understand the ins and outs of our products and be able to speak about the technology with knowledge and credibility. You will grow into a subject matter expert who can engage customers and engineers alike.
  • Get out of the office. Be where the customer needs us. Build trust through engagement in all environments.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ownership and a proactive, forward-leaning mindset. You take full responsibility for the plan and anticipate what comes next. You act without waiting to be asked.
  • Technical fluency. Ability to quickly learn complex products and technology, and to become a subject matter expert on CHAOS systems.
  • Collaborative and team-minded. You work well across functions and put the mission and the team's success first.
  • Problem-solving mentality. Fight for information, build a team, be creative, be a thought leader and relish the opportunity to take on a difficult problem.
  • Program/project management. Proven experience in developing requirements, scoping programs, and delivering to customers in the defense industry.
  • Comfortable in the field. CHAOS is an engineering-first company with a hardware component. You will be at ease working alongside customers in the field, and happy to roll up your sleeves and get hands-on with the hardware when the job calls for it.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will work with customer stakeholders at every level, from day-to-day counterparts to generals, and communicate with them clearly in writing and in person.
  • Voice of the customer. You will contextualise and collate customer feedback and deliver it to CHAOS engineering, product management and senior leadership.
  • Risk tolerance. We intend to go with our customers to where they need us most to deliver.
  • Ability and interest to travel (50%, with flexibility for higher travel periods) to customer sites across Europe and the Middle East, and to our offices in LA and Washington DC.
  • UK security clearance. Existing UK security clearance, or eligibility to obtain it.

Preferred Requirements

  • Radar, RF, sensor, weapons systems, defence technology or communications experience.
  • Background of working with militaries. Extensive experience working with European militaries, or a military engineering or Special Forces technology background.

Travel experience. Comfortable with organizing and navigating overseas engagements, operating in remote areas, and able to plan for and mitigate risk to reputation, mission and personnel.

Why CHAOS?

  • Health Benefits: private medical, dental and vision benefits (for employees & dependents) will be 100% paid for by the company
  • Additional benefits: 5% pension match
  • Compensation Components: competitive base salaries, generous pre-IPO stock option grants, relocation assistance + (coming soon!) annual bonuses
  • Team Growth: 350 employees and counting across 5 global offices
