Job description

The Opportunity

StartEngine is one of the largest equity crowdfunding and private-market investing platforms in the U.S., giving investors access to investment opportunities across both private companies and sought-after pre-IPO securities. Founded by Howard Marks, co-founder of Activision and Acclaim, StartEngine has built a large investor community and continues to expand its private-market business.

We’re looking for an experienced Managing Director of Sales to lead, develop, and grow our team of FINRA-registered Private Market Associates and Consultants serving accredited investors. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role for someone who knows how to build exceptional sales teams, coach high-performing professionals, create accountability, and drive results in a fast-moving environment. You’ll play a critical role in scaling StartEngine Private as we continue expanding our investor base, sales organization, and presence in the secondary private markets.

What You'll Do
  • Lead, coach, and scale StartEngine’s team of FINRA-registered Private Sales representatives.

  • Evaluate, onboard, and develop sales professionals as the business grows.

  • Establish clear performance expectations, revenue goals, and accountability standards.

  • Drive revenue growth by strengthening the sales process, improving deal execution, and increasing investor engagement.

  • Provide hands-on coaching in areas such as investor calls, deal strategy, objection handling, and closing.

  • Use KPIs, conversion data, and pipeline analysis to identify opportunities and improve individual and team performance.

  • Foster a high-performance sales culture grounded in accountability, continuous improvement, and exceptional investor service.

  • Ensure the team operates in accordance with FINRA requirements and all applicable internal policies and procedures.

  • Partner closely with executive leadership, Compliance, and Operations to execute strategic growth initiatives.

  • What We're Looking For
  • Active FINRA Series 7, 63, and 24 licenses, with the Series 24 required for this supervisory role.

  • Demonstrated success leading and developing commission-based sales teams within financial services.

  • Experience selling complex financial products, such as private securities, alternative investments, or secondary-market offerings.

  • A strong coaching orientation and a track record of developing high-performing sales professionals.

  • A thorough understanding of accredited investors and relationship-driven, consultative sales.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience using performance data to guide decisions and improve results.

  • The ability to balance ambitious revenue goals with sound supervisory practices and regulatory compliance.

  • A competitive, accountable, and results-oriented leadership style.

  • An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to build, refine, and scale processes in a rapidly evolving environment.

  • Excellent communication, judgment, and cross-functional leadership skills.

  • Perks & Benefits
  • 100% covered Medical/Dental/Vision - pick your own plan
  • Generous Equity package
  • Unlimited PTO and sick days
  • Paid WeWork Usage (optional)
  • 100% Remote
  • Team Off-sites and Celebration Dinners
  • Paid Maternity/Paternity leave
  • 401K program
  • Flexible hours
  • Be part of one of the fastest growing parts of the FinTech Industry
  • A chance to work with a highly profitable and rapidly expanding startup (not VC funded)
