Managing Director – Compliance Services

at Tevora

Irvine, CA, or Fairfax, VA

If you haven't heard of Tevora, it's because we've done our job!

Tevora is a tight-knit community of professionals with a shared passion for our craft. Every day, we combine in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity, technology, and compliance to help create more secure digital environments. To Tevorans, every problem is a puzzle in need of solving. We strongly believe that if we put smart, driven people in a room together, they will accomplish great things. We maintain a supportive culture that celebrates continuous learning, diverse perspectives, and sharing the wins. That's why we have our eyes on you.

What's the role?
Tevora is seeking an experienced Managing Director to lead and grow its Payments, SOC, and Federal Compliance practice areas. This individual will own the strategic direction, delivery quality, and P&L performance of three distinct but complementary service lines: PCI DSS assessment and advisory, SOC 1/SOC 2 attestation services, and cybersecurity/compliance services for federal and public-sector clients (e.g., FedRAMP, CMMC, NIST 800-53/800-171). The Managing Director will report to the principal, serve as a senior client-facing executive, and build the people, processes, and go-to-market strategy needed to scale these practices.
A day in the life could include:

Practice Leadership & Strategy

  • Own the overall strategy, growth, and profitability of the Payments, SOC, and Federal Services practice areas.

  • Set annual goals for revenue, utilization, margin, and headcount for each practice, and report progress to firm leadership.

  • Identify market trends and emerging regulatory requirements (PCI DSS 4.0/5.0, evolving FedRAMP/FedRAMP20x/CMMC requirements, SOC criteria updates) and adapt service offerings accordingly.

  • Maintain and report on KPIs (sales pipeline, sold consulting revenue, utilization goals) and updating processes to increase team efficiency and effectiveness

  • Business Development & Client Relationships

    • Serve as a senior relationship owner for key accounts; act as an escalation point for client issues.

    • Lead proposal development, pricing, and contract negotiations with enterprise clients and renewal engagements.

    • Represent Tevora at industry conferences, working groups, and client events to build brand awareness and pipeline.

    • Service Delivery & Quality

      • Track and report on Payments, Federal and SOC team quality with appropriate FedRAMP PMO, CMMC AB, PCI Payments Council, and maintain high quality customer services

      • Maintain and continuously improve quality assurance, methodology, and risk management practices across all three practices.

      • People Leadership

        • Recruit, mentor, and develop consultants, managers, and directors within the practice areas.

        • Build and manage a resourcing plan to balance utilization, career development, and delivery quality.

        • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture and support staff certification and professional growth.

        • Cross-Functional Collaboration

          • Partner with other practice leads, sales, marketing, and program management operations to align messaging, resourcing, and delivery capacity.

          • Contribute to firmwide strategic initiatives as a member of the extended leadership team.

Necessary skills and qualifications:
  • Currently hold relevant cybersecurity certifications, including CISSP, CISM, ISO Lead Auditor, PCI QSA, FedRAMP Auditor, C3PAO, or other equivalent certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required. Master’s Degree in a business discipline preferred

  • 10 or more years working in cybersecurity, risk management, or compliance consulting firms

  • Experience leading multiple functional teams

  • 7+ years of experience in a leadership position, including managing a team

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Additional requirements:
