Maybell is a venture-backed startup of scientists, engineers, visionaries, and innovators designing and building the hardware that makes quantum science possible.

We are looking for a Lead Engineer who wants to see their ideas and innovations become the products that define the next generation of computing. Successful candidates will have experience in the end-to-end product development cycle from concept ideation and requirements discovery to product launch and production (we’ll help you come up to speed on the quantum side of things). This role provides the opportunity to make a real impact - you will influence technical decisions on our products.

Responsibilities

  • Design and development of Maybell products from the ground up

  • Create complex mechanical designs, drawings and documentation for parts and assemblies following DFX principles to develop the most efficient and high-quality products.
  • Maintain ownership over sub-system development and sustaining activities including project and resource planning, gathering of documentation and requirements, and execution of ECOs.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and operations to ensure a smooth transition from concept to a fully scalable high-quality products

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in an engineering field, or equivalent experience
  • 10-15 years of working experience in a mechanical design role, preferably with capital equipment and machine design
  • Exceptional CAD and product documentation skills
  • Experience with designing machined components, sheet metal and weldments with an emphasis on DFM
  • Self-starter with ability to drive results independently
  • Demonstrated ability to bring complex products from concept to production
  • Team player with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt and perform in a fast paced and dynamic organization.
  • Due to the global nature of the Company's operations, employees may be required to work a schedule that provides overlap with U.S.-based colleagues, customers, and business partners. Typical working hours for this role are expected to fall between 11:00/12:00 and 19:00/20:00 local time, although schedules may vary based on business needs.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in Ansys or equivalent analysis software
  • Working knowledge of the ASME Y14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing standard
  • Experience working with product safety standards (NRTL and CE)
  • Strong hands-on experience building prototypes, test apparatus, and fixtures.
  • Machine shop and fabrication skills
  • A strong understanding of software and electrical systems to inform design decisions and product architectures
