Job title
Paralegal & Legal Operations Associate
Job location
New York, NY
Job description

About This Role

Our mission is to build a reliable platform and partner for backbone American businesses. As Affiniti's first dedicated legal operations hire, you'll work directly with the Head of Legal to build and run the contracting, vendor management, and internal systems behind our SMB financial operations platform.

You'll work across everything from customer and vendor agreements to information security and company-wide organization. You'll collaborate with our finance, sales, and operations teams, plus external partners like vendors, business partners, and investors, to keep the business running cleanly while we move fast.

This is not a paper-pushing role. You'll act as a hands-on partner: owning our templates, running first-round negotiations, and building the systems that let a rapidly scaling fintech scale its legal function. If you want to be close to the deals, the tools, and the decisions, keep reading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take leadership in our customer and strategic partner agreement workflows end to end. Prepare and redline customer agreements, track who's signed, and keep deals moving without bottlenecks.

  • Manage vendor contracts and procurement alongside our Finance team. Track vendors, renewals, and spend, and take the first pass at negotiating terms.

  • Maintain and update all of our contract templates. Use AI tools to run first-round reviews and negotiations, escalating to the Head of Legal where judgment is needed.

  • Support our information security program: vendor security reviews, security questionnaires, policy upkeep, and coordination on audits and certifications.

  • Implement and own the systems we run on. Lead our moves to new contract management and ERP platforms.

  • Keep the company organized. Maintain our corporate records and data room, and gather and prepare information for fundraising, diligence, and board materials.

That said, these responsibilities are just the beginning! We encourage you to be an owner and contribute wherever you observe opportunities to grow our business that align with your skills and interests.

Qualifications

  • 1–4 years of experience in legal operations, commercial contracts, or as a paralegal or contracts manager, preferably at a fintech, SaaS, or financial services company.

  • Hands-on experience drafting, redlining, and negotiating commercial agreements (customer, vendor, NDAs, referral/partner agreements). We are passionate about getting the details right and hope you are too!

  • Comfortable using AI tools, and excited to make them a core part of how legal work gets done.

  • Familiarity with information security and vendor risk practices (security questionnaires, SOC 2, data protection terms). Bonus points if you've supported an audit.

  • Experience implementing or administering legal and business systems: contract lifecycle management (e.g., Ironclad, Juro, SpotDraft), e-signature, or ERP/procurement tools.

  • Detail-obsessed and organized. Strong written and verbal communication.

  • Experience at an early stage hypergrowth startup is a plus. Exposure to fundraising diligence or data room management is a plus.

  • A high ownership, do what it takes mentality.

Work Authorization

Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States. For this role, we are considering candidates who are U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), or individuals who otherwise currently hold valid authorization to work in the United States.

Equal Opportunity Employment

Affiniti is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace and consider all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
