The Koch Internship Program (KIP) is a paid experiential learning program run by Stand Together Fellowships that offers professional development, leadership training, and meaningful work experience at non-profits tackling some of our nation's most pressing policy challenges all over the United States. Early-career professionals including undergraduate/graduate/law students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Job Summary: The
Grassroot Institute of Hawaii is seeking to hire a policy intern who will work with the director of policy to research and write policy papers, commentaries or articles; and be available to talk about such research to local and national media, community groups and state, county and federal lawmakers.
Essential duties and responsibilities
• Conduct general or detailed research as required.
• Assist Institute staff with tasks, projects and events.
• Revise or update research as requested by editorial staff.
• Represent the institute at state and national conferences, as needed.
• Participate in staff calls and leadership team meetings.
• Maintain excellent communication and foster a collaborative working environment with all departments, offices and customers.
• Maintain regular attendance and timeliness.
Skills and qualifications
• Alignment with the vision and mission of the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii.
• The ability to write well-structured, accurate and readable prose.
• The ability to connect with people in the community who can help with the research..
• The ability to reliably commute to the institute’s main office in downtown Honolulu. This role is open to remote work for the right candidate, but prefers on site.
