The Opportunity:
Portfolio and Pipeline Strategy helps Revolution Medicines make clear choices as assets, indications, and investment options grow. The Associate Director of Portfolio Management is a late-stage, molecule-facing role that partners closely with Project Teams and Lifecycle Teams to build strong decision packages for pivotal development, registration, launch, and lifecycle decisions.
For material decisions, the role adds an enterprise portfolio perspective. It frames the broader questions around a molecule or indication, identifies dependencies and alternatives, and translates clinical, commercial, financial, and strategic insight into comparable portfolio inputs. The role works closely with Disease Area Strategy, asset, Commercial, Development, and Finance teams, as well as other relevant functions and governance partners, to support clear, well-informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities
-
Partner with assigned Project Teams and Lifecycle Teams to frame strategic questions and develop decision packages for pivotal development, registration, launch, indication, and lifecycle choices.
-
Partner with teams to develop the fact base for asset decisions—including target product profiles, evidence plans, probability of success, value scenarios, and development options—and translate these inputs into clear portfolio context and implications.
-
Integrate inputs from Development, Commercialization, Finance, Data and Analytics, Disease Area Strategy, and other relevant functions into clear decision briefs and recommendations.
-
Support teams in developing option sets, decision criteria, and Go/No-Go thresholds.
-
Apply asset, disease, and portfolio insight to late-stage and lifecycle choices, including pivotal-trial design, indication strategy, sequencing, and investment.
-
For material decisions, collaborate with teams to assess strategic fit, feasibility, capacity and timing dependencies, competing investments, and what an option enables or displaces.
-
Contribute molecule and indication insights to portfolio reviews, scenarios, path-to-ambition analyses, and prioritization recommendations.
-
Identify when a decision requires broader enterprise perspective and coordinate with portfolio leadership to develop the appropriate analysis.
-
Build trusted working relationships with program and functional leaders through rigorous analysis, constructive challenge, and practical support.
Required Skills, Experience and Education:
-
8 or more years of experience in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals, with experience in drug development, program leadership, portfolio planning, commercialization, strategy, or a closely related field.
-
Strong understanding of late-stage development, registration, commercialization, and lifecycle planning, including the decisions that shape pivotal trials, indication strategy, sequencing, and investment choices.
-
Demonstrated ability to frame complex strategic questions, develop options, assess trade-offs and portfolio implications, and communicate recommendations to senior stakeholders.
-
Experience working across Development, Regulatory, Commercialization, Finance, Data and Analytics, Disease Area Strategy, and other relevant functions to develop a common decision package.
-
Strong analytical skills and comfort working with clinical, market, financial, probability-of-success, and portfolio inputs.
-
Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and operate effectively in a highly cross-functional, evolving environment.
Preferred Skills:
-
Experience in oncology drug development and commercialization.
-
Experience supporting major investment decisions, indication prioritization, portfolio scenarios, or external opportunity assessment.
-
Advanced degree preferred, such as an M.S., MBA, Ph.D., M.D., or comparable degree in life sciences, medicine, business, or a related field.
