The Opportunity:

Revolution Medicines is seeking an Associate Director, Global Revenue - Technical Accounting & Reporting to serve as a technical accounting leader for product revenue as the company expands its global commercial operations.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Revenue Finance and Accounting, this role will own global revenue accounting policies and provide technical accounting leadership across U.S. and international markets. The Associate Director will partner closely with regional Finance and Accounting teams to review revenue related contracts, evaluate country specific commercial arrangements, and determine the appropriate accounting treatment under U.S. GAAP. The role will also own revenue related SEC reporting disclosures, U.S. order to cash accounting, and royalty accounting.

The ideal candidate will bring deep pharmaceutical revenue accounting experience, strong technical accounting expertise, and meaningful global experience working across regional teams. This individual should be highly experienced in interpreting complex contracts, applying U.S. GAAP to revenue arrangements, documenting technical accounting conclusions, and ensuring consistent accounting treatment across markets. Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical revenue flows, distribution models, payer and channel arrangements, and related financial reporting requirements is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the development, maintenance, and application of global revenue accounting policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, and the company’s evolving commercial operations.

  • Lead technical accounting assessments for complex revenue and contra revenue arrangements across U.S. and international markets. Partner with regional Finance and Accounting teams to review commercial contracts, evaluate country specific arrangements, determine the appropriate accounting treatment, and ensure consistent application of global revenue policies.

  • Prepare technical accounting memos documenting key contractual terms, significant judgments, accounting conclusions, and required treatment under U.S. GAAP. Partner with external auditors on accounting matters as needed.

  • Own the monthly close for gross revenue and accounts receivable, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting analyses. Oversee the order to cash process performed by the 3PL, review accounts receivable activity and aging, and resolve accounting or operational issues with internal and external partners.

  • Guide U.S. and international Finance and Accounting teams in the consistent application of global revenue accounting policies and technical accounting conclusions, helping translate accounting guidance into practical processes, controls, and reporting requirements.

  • Own the preparation and coordination of revenue SEC disclosures and supporting schedules, working closely with the SEC Reporting team to provide required analyses, technical accounting support, and disclosure inputs. Gather and review inputs from the GTN team, regional Finance teams, and other stakeholders, reconcile disclosures to reported financial results.

  • Establish, maintain, and improve SOX controls over global revenue and order to cash processes. Partner with Internal Audit and external auditors on control design, testing, audit requirements, and remediation of identified issues.

  • Lead revenue accounting audit support, including preparation of supporting documentation, communication of technical accounting conclusions, coordination of auditor requests, and resolution of accounting and control matters with relevant stakeholders.

  • Own end to end accounting and reporting for royalty arrangements, including interpretation of contractual terms, royalty calculations, journal entries, reconciliations, settlements, and coordination with internal and external partners.

  • Own accounting for the international pharmacy program, including revenue recognition and financial reporting. Serve as the primary Finance and Accounting contact for the program and manage the relationship with partner from a Finance perspective.

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, CPA preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including revenue accounting and technical accounting experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with strong expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition.

  • Strong experience reviewing revenue contracts and preparing technical accounting memos.

  • Global revenue accounting experience.

  • Experience preparing revenue SEC disclosures.

  • Strong SOX, internal controls, and audit experience.

  • Experience working across global Finance and Accounting teams.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Public accounting experience.

  • Experience supporting a first product launch or early commercial stage biotechnology company.

  • Experience with royalty accounting and reporting.

  • Experience using AI tools and automation to improve journal entries, close reporting, documentation, and other accounting processes.

Base Pay Salary Range
$177,000—$221,000 USD
