Job description

About Genera

We are building Genera because AI has a major capacity shortage. No, we aren’t talking about compute capacity. The #1 bottleneck for enterprise AI is deployment capacity.

FDE is the hottest job in tech, and no fast-growing AI company can hire enough of them to keep up with customer demand. Historically, System Integrators have been the default solution for scaling software implementations without linearly adding more headcount. But SIs are a $450b market with a premise that is fundamentally at odds with the promise of AI. You shouldn’t pay consultants by the hour to deploy software that is designed to displace human labor.

Genera agents automate routine deployment work like requirements gathering, data migration, configuration building, and testing. Our Deployments team is made up of exceptional FDE and implementation talent that combines deep customer ownership with the ability to build. With Genera, our customers pay for outcomes, not hours, and their customers go live faster than ever before.

Genera was founded by Will and James, Stanford classmates with two decades of experience building and deploying AI products. We raised $10m led by First Round Capital and are growing our team in San Francisco and Bangalore.

About the Role

The Deployments team sits at the intersection of customers, agents, product, and revenue.

You’ll own enterprise software deployments end to end: working directly with customers to understand how their businesses operate, building agents and configurations that solve their problems, collaborating with our engineering team to turn what works into reusable capabilities, and partnering with Sales to identify opportunities to expand our relationships.

This is not a traditional implementation role. Roughly 60% of your time will be spent building and 40% working directly with customers. You might spend the morning leading a deployment workshop with a Fortune 500 customer, the afternoon using agentic coding tools to build an automation for them, and the next day working with our engineering team to turn what you learned into something every Genera deployment can use.

Your first job is to make deployments incredible for our customers today. Your second is to help us automate more and more of the work required to do that. Along the way, you’ll build executive relationships, uncover new use cases, and help turn successful deployments into larger customer partnerships.

Within your first six months, we expect you to be able to independently run a customer deployment, ship customer-facing features and agents to production, collaborate closely with our engineering team, and become someone our customers trust with their most important problems.

This role is based in San Francisco and includes travel to work with customers onsite.

Your Skillset

  • You have experience in a highly analytical, customer-facing role such as Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, technical implementation, product, or consulting

  • You are technically curious and comfortable solving technical problems yourself. You do not need to be a traditional software engineer, but you are excited to share what your favorite agentic coding harness is.

  • You are an exceptional communicator who can earn credibility with everyone from an operations lead to an engineering team to an executive at a Fortune 500 company

  • You have strong product instincts. You can distinguish a one-off customer request from a pattern worth turning into a reusable capability

  • You are commercially minded. You naturally look for new problems we can solve, understand how value gets created for customers, and enjoy partnering with Sales to grow relationships

  • You can take an ambiguous business problem, figure out how the underlying process actually works, and translate it into something software can execute

  • You move quickly and like shipping. A working solution in the hands of a customer is more interesting to you than a perfect deck describing one

Your Mindset

  • You are deeply curious about product and company building, whether that means keeping up with the latest AI developments, learning how to run a great executive meeting, or understanding how the best enterprise software companies expand accounts

  • You like crossing traditional job boundaries. You would rather solve the problem than debate whether it belongs to implementation, product, engineering, customer success, or sales

  • You are energized by important problems and high expectations. We work with some of the best AI companies in the world, and they trust us with deployments that matter deeply to their businesses

  • You thrive in ambiguity, bring an adventurous spirit to your work, and aren’t afraid to change direction when new information emerges

  • You have a growth mindset and are constantly looking for opportunities to become more technical, more commercially effective, and better at your craft

  • You have great taste that shows up in your craft and your commitment to quality for customers

  • You are excited by the idea that the work you do manually today might become an agent, workflow, or product capability tomorrow

Benefits & Perks

  • Great health insurance for you and your family

  • Lunch in the office every day, plus weekly team dinners

  • Learn from our amazing network of mentors and investors

  • Regular team offsites in awesome places

  • Unlimited PTO that we encourage you to use to live a full life

  • Build the company you want to work at
