General Summary
The VFX Assistant Production Manager is responsible for supporting the VFX department leadership with production strategy, day-to-day operations, and staff management.Job Functions
- In partnership with discipline leads, oversee creation, management, and publishing of asset/shot schedules with particular attention to the optimized utilization of team and resources.
- Work closely with discipline leads to communicate and follow up on all task assignments.
- Assist with managing production target statuses and ensure artist work remains on schedule to meet required deadlines (through quotas, establishing performance standards, forecasting labor, non-labor needs, etc.).
- Serve as a liaison across departments to ensure production priorities, objectives, and changes are properly communicated, understood, and coordinated.
- Work closely with VFX Coordinators to establish timely reviews, dailies, meetings, render priorities, notes, and database updates.
- Establish, adapt, and refine VFX Production methods/procedures to enhance efficiencies and departmental output.
- Anticipate and troubleshoot potential inefficiencies in production workflow and team/asset/shot requirements.
- Communicate issues to leadership team(s) to reach solutions in a timely manner.
- Act as cross-studio point of contact on behalf of VFX Department regarding deliverables, as necessary.
Qualifications
- 5+ yearsโ experience in a production management role in feature film visual effects with strong understanding of live action visual effects workflows.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Experience with production tracking and asset management software (Shotgun, experience preferred).
- Technical ability and knowledge to navigate systems for running reviews and various meetings.
- Strong planning, problem solving, and analytical skills.
- Organized and methodical in approach to work, with strong communication and follow through.
- Adaptable and capable of re-prioritizing according to evolving project goals.
- Calm and personable under pressure and when working toward tight deadlines within a production driven environment.
