You will join a team developing a state-of-the-art general-purpose robot designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, to walk like humans do, and to dexterously manipulate objects with its hands and upper body.
We seek a Staff Test Engineer with demonstrated experience testing electro-mechanical systems throughout the full product life cycle. In this role, you will work closely with our engineering team to develop system test campaigns and perform system verification testing of our Apollo platform. This role will be responsible for developing, planning, and executing system tests designs and inform design improvement and maturation toward commercial deployment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary engineering and test teams to mature Apollo product line into production
- Work closely with engineering team to create verification test plans across a maturing product lifecycle, to include: initial prototype(s), EVT, DVT, and PVT stages
- Develop, implement, and execute test plans for robotic systems with an emphasis on electromechanical platform performance
- Design and fabricate test fixtures and equipment for validating various electromechanical robotics systems to meet testing objectives
- Identify, collect, analyze, and manage various types of test data to minimize failures and improve system performance
- Develop and refine processes for capturing test data and write test reports
- Update and maintain test documentation and troubleshooting analysis manual
- Participate in root cause analysis of failures and product deviations to inform design improvements
- Provides planning and status information to project and product managers
- Efficiently communicating with team members on the execution
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, or similar Engineering, preferred
- 6+ years of product test or comparable experience. Salary and title dependent on experience.
- 2+ years of experience leading a test team
- 4+ years of experience in physical testing and analysis of advanced electromechanical platforms, including integrated hardware and software testing.
- 2+ years of experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing
- Proven track record of designing test infrastructure and managing test campaigns
- Proven track record of creating and executing design verification test plans, to include test method(s) identification, instrumentation design, and data reduction
- Experience operating test stands and analyzing data to drive product development and pinpoint opportunities for system feature refinement and release.
- Ability to present documented test results to senior leadership
- Knowledge in product lifecycle testing and test method design and documentation
- Experience with test scripting frameworks and languages for automated data acquisition and processing.

Nice to Haves
- Experience in robotics or mechatronics industry, with preference to unmanned platforms
- 4+ years of experience working with advanced automation technology
- 2+ years of experience with testing electric motors or electromechanical actuators
- Experience testing software for embedded devices, edge applications, or robotics with critical, real-time performance requirements
- Experience with industrial certification testing (UL, FCC, etc)
- Experience with system Functional Safety testing (IEC 61800-5-2, SIL-3, Cat4 PL-e or similar)
- Experience with basic fabrication, machining, wiring, general electronics debugging, and software build and deployment
