We are looking for a Staff Security Engineer to join UnitedMasters!

# What You'll Do

This is a key technical leadership role. In this role you will be the critical person in defining and executing on the company vision for building a more secure music distribution platform. You will:

• Help establish security best practices across UnitedMasters engineering.
• Analyze our security posture, identify gaps, and work closely with both development teams and operations teams to ensure strong security.
• Lead complex security projects from design through implementation, and work with engineering leadership to ensure effective ongoing maintenance.
• Participate in design and proposal reviews for both software and infrastructure projects, ensuring that security considerations are taken into account.
• Lead and mentor junior security engineers, and coach other engineers on best security practices.
• Work with engineering leadership to set the engineering roadmap and make investments to keep the company systems secure.

# Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of application security, system security, secure coding best practices, common attack patterns, and exploitation techniques. 
• Ability to analyze code from other engineers, cloud resources, and terraform configurations to identify the potential security threats.
• A teacher and collaborator: capable of outlining technical security guidelines and coaching stakeholders across multiple teams to ensure they are followed.
• A builder and implementer: uses programming and configuration expertise to lead hands-on execution of security projects. 
• Excellent communication skills. Can explain complex technical concepts simply for others to understand and learn from.
• Excellent technical documentation skills.
  

# Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of security engineering experience in distributed systems at scale.
• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience working on cloud infrastructure, especially AWS and its security services suite.

# Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multiple programming languages.
• Has been a software developer and has deep empathy for the software development lifecycle.

These deals give them additional money for their work and increase their exposure.

Salary Hiring Range: $180,000 - $220,000

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide (e.g. bonus, stock options, 401(k) match, etc.)

Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.  We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors. 

The range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted.  If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.

The salary range above is for the NY/CA.  As a company, we have a location based strategy, which means the salary range could be lower or higher than this if the role is hired in another location.
